HOWEVER, This saw has a major design flaw. Once I unboxed it and got it ready to use, I found the laser was WAY off. Like 5 degrees off. So out came the manual to see how to adjust it. According to the manual on page 28 there is a single philips head adjustment screw accessible through a provided hole in the laser housing. Wow, that is WAY WAY off. Total and complete design flaw that amazes me no one has caught. The provided access hole actually leads to the laser mounting screw, NOT the adjustment screws of which there are TWO. In order to adjust the laser you must remove the two philips head screws on the other side of the laser unit, and remove the grey cover. Of course the little plastic window that protects the laser will fall out and is a pain to reinstall. Now with the cover removed you will see two philips head screws on the side and a Hex head screw on the top. The middle and top screws are the adjustment screws. The screw on the left is the screw shown in the manual and is the one visible through the grey cover, but it is actually the mounting screw. The philips screw in the middle on the side moves the lasers angle. The hex screw on the top moves the laser forward or backward to get it right next to the blade. I own a LOT of Ryobi tools and love them, so this flaw is truly bizarre. I didn't try to return it as it's obviously a design flaw and not just some sort of mistake in assembly. Also, my nearest HD is a 30 mile round trip, which is why I decided to see if there was some way to fix it myself. I'm a little apprehensive about the hex adjustment screw as it is VERY easy to turn and we shall see how well it holds adjustment over time. Most likely I will have to cut out the little tab covering it and also drill a new hole in the side of the cover to make accessing the actual adjustment screws possible without removing the cover each time. Hopefully this will not hurt the saws warranty.

I bought this small saw so I could have something to do small DIY projects. It was very easy to assemble as most of it was already assembled. I have it sitting on my tool box ready to go. The only thing I will warn about is to be careful of it moving when using it. It is pretty powerful, so if you don't have it clamped down, it does shift a little. It's not a huge problem by any means, but just keep it in mind when using it. The bag is useless, so I just keep my shop vac handy for clean up. The laser is pretty good. Any ladies out there like me, that enjoy doing projects around the house, this is a great tool to have.

I do fixate on the fact that to zero and adjust the blade to the laser line for angle cuts is a bit difficult, it is not impossible. The guide clamp does not allow for holding down stock wider than 4 inches. But up to now I have easily cut: 4x4's, 2x6's, 2x4's,and 1x3's. Would definitely recommend for the weekend DIY warriors. Ah yes, consider buying a shopvac for the sawdust.

I was the cheapest miter saw homedepo had and I thought it would be fine because all I was doing was cutting crown molding and trim, however it did not even last through the project. The plastic guard broke day one of the project, We live out of town and could not burn a day trying to return it so I manage to take the guard off and finish the project and by the end the laser light was way off and saw was almost useless. Like I said no heavy cutting just trim and molding and the thing fell apart. It went in the trash when I was done, not worth the $100 to wait in line and try and return it. Last RYOBI product I buy.

This is a pure piece of garbage, The saw blade cuts the green plastic part of the bottom when you do bevel cut. The sticker for the angle and miter gauge are't true. When set to 0 degree, it's not actual 0 degree. You have to use speed square just to do simple cross cut. Sometimes the laser switch doesn't even turn off, NOT on. The dust bag barely collects the saw dust. After using this Ryobi miter saw a couple of times, the lock pin keeps falling apart. And today, when I was doing cross cut with 2x4s, all of sudden saw blade got stuck in the middle of 1.5" thickness pine board making weird sound. I probably used this miter saw little over 20 times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Miter Saw with plenty of power Great compound miter saw with plenty of power to do what I need it to do. One of the biggest influences in my choosing this miter saw was the depth of cut that this miter saw is capable of handling. Too many of the miter saws this size are limited to cutting 2x4 lumber or possibly 3x3 stock. But this miter saw actually handles 4x4 lumber and exotic hardwoods with ease. There is only one thing that I recommend, since the saw includes a general purpose blade, you really do need to purchase a finer cutting blade to go with the rough cut blade so you don't have to do a lot of sanding when you are making finer cuts.
