Answer:
Yes it comes with a standard crosscut type blade. If you are doing something like base boards you need a blade with more teeth per inch, somewhere around 20 whereas this blade is around 12-14.

Kelley, keep in mind that we're not talking about a full 4" of work piece depth. A 4"x4" post is really around 3.5" on a side. This saw will definitely "make the cut".

Please consider, as well, if you expect to make tons of cuts at that depth, that you might possibly get the most satisfactory results with a different blade. There are many choices. I would suggest you do some Googling to educate yourself, using such search terms as 'best table saw blades for deep cuts in wood'. You get the idea. Typically, these blades are called 'crosscut', since, well, that's what you're doing. Read Less

Answer:
No, you would need a bigger blade, this unite only has a 10" blade and the cutting depth is not for a stock that large. A table saw or rotary arm saw would do, depending on the blade size.

14-Amp 10 in. Compound Miter Saw in Green is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 135.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Miter Saw with plenty of power Great compound miter saw with plenty of power to do what I need it to do. One of the biggest influences in my choosing this miter saw was the depth of cut that this miter saw is capable of handling. Too many of the miter saws this size are limited to cutting 2x4 lumber or possibly 3x3 stock. But this miter saw actually handles 4x4 lumber and exotic hardwoods with ease. There is only one thing that I recommend, since the saw includes a general purpose blade, you really do need to purchase a finer cutting blade to go with the rough cut blade so you don't have to do a lot of sanding when you are making finer cuts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good starter saw The blade makes accurate cuts across the saw's range of angles. The size of the boards that this saw can cut are of course limited by the small blade size, but of course I knew this before purchasing it. On my saw, the rear sawdust catcher is essentially useless: I'd strongly recommend inserting a shop vac into the back to mitigate the spread of scraps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great miter saw for the price Originally purchased to cut quarter round for the hardwood floors we resurfaced and have since used it on other projects. You can't really beat the price for the features it included. Worth it!

The miter settings are accurate and easy to set. The three areas that the saw can use improvement are the laser guide, the work clamp and the dust collector. The laser is incredibly difficult to see if you are using the saw outside. I was not in direct sunlight yet the laser was nearly invisible. The "work clamp" has a pivoting plate on its end which is supposed to be held to the adjustable clamp with a clip. Every time that I would tighten the clamp on a piece of molding the clip would come off and the plate fell off rendering it useless. The dust collection bag just outright does not collect any of the sawdust. The sawdust flies everywhere like when using a circular saw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the price Just needed an easy to set up and use miter saw for cutting 2x4 and smaller and this saw certainly delivers. I did not need this saw for daily use just weekend projects, making shelves etc! The Saw blade that came with it cut through 2x4 with ease. It didn't get the five stars because of the laser guide, it's very weak to see the light even when working inside a garage area. If your into DIY around the house this will definitely suit your needs.

Laser guide is a little variable, but close enough for my purposes. Would be nice to have two clamps instead of the one that comes with it, but that can be worked around. Strong, cuts pretty clean, easily adjusted, does the job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did the job Used it for trim, baseboard etc. laser was completely sideways. Tried to line it up. Didn't work. Just used old fashion way of lining it up. Great saw for the price. Sawdust bag is useless...whatever. Aren't they all?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right tool for my deck project Bought this miter saw and use it for my deck project. It was a correct choice and without this tool, I could not finish the project. It is very acurate to cut the deck wood and PVC railings.
