Everything that THW622 says is accurate. I purchased this on sale and was only in need of a saw a few times a year for around the house jobs. The laser is off, the notch is off the cut, the included blade is lousy-replace straight out of the box. A higher end unit is way more valuable especially for someone with amateur experience.

I bought this product a couple of years ago when it was in blue. The power switch fails intermittently where it doesn't activate the motor.
This seems to be a common occurrence, at least with the blue model. There is a three year warranty available but you need to keep your receipts or proof of purchase and Home Depot's credit card records aren't the best for detailed purchases.
Right now I have a rather expensive paperweight that was used once.

If this is your first time using a circular saw like me.
This thing is very very loud.
Pulling the trigger (without cutting wood) is like turning your TV on to Volumn 50 from 0. Explosion.
O it will cut alright. But it's too loud, like summoning a tornado (whirl) or calling an ambulance. You will want to stay away from it every time you think about making a simple cut. That is not very good for making projects. It will slow down your time.
Trying to find something cheap that will last. Well, I need to last first.

I am not a professional when it comes to cutting and sawing, but my experience with this product has been excellent. I bought this product since it was on deal and I had few home projects lined up. After reading the instruction few times, I was able to set up the saw for use. The laser was very helpful since I could not use the edger for most of the cutting that I needed to use. The light near the cutting area was very useful too. I would definitely recommend it to people who do not want to spend a ton of money on expensive saw and do not intend to build a house using this saw.

Got this saw as a birthday present so that I could cut some wood for DIY type projects. Laser guide is a joke, the blade cut nowhere near the line despite my attempts to adjust it. In addition to that the saw would not make a square cut. Thought this would be a good tool to start woodworking, but overall I was extremely dissatisfied.

Met all my expectations- accurate, powerful, and smooth to operate. Like the laser tracking very much. Like the angle cutting when you calibrate the angle with a practice cut on a scrap piece of wood. Produced my best wood construction project with this saw and a well-balanced blade (Diablo).

I posted about how I fixed my saw on a thread on the woodtalkonline forums, but the gist of it is that the switch has a spring that is squeezed between two little nubs. It doesn't take much at all for the spring to come off of those nubs. In my case, I also had some light corrosion on the contacts in the switch. The good news is that I was able to fix it myself, and had I not been able to, I could have purchased a new switch for $20.
When the saw is working, I am pleased with the power and features, but having the unreliable switch has caused me to purchase a nice Makita hypoid saw instead and I'll be selling this one. If you buy this saw, definitely keep the receipt as you'll need if you need any warranty work.

I'm a DIY'r and bought this saw because of the price. Also im not gonna abuse it very much so the fact that it's all plastic didn't bother me to much. I took it out of the box, it looked good, put the saw blade on, made my first cut and noticed my cut was angled. I checked my angle and it was set at zero, so I made another cut and the same thing. I Returned it and I'm looking for a different one.
