I just brought a circular saw with this brand name and I when I press the button it goes but when I try to cut some plywood it acts like it gets stuck and wont go. what could be the cause?
Asked by: beth
sounds like the blade is being pinched. either you are not supporting both sides of the cut causing the side your cutting off, the more you cut the more it will pinch the blade causing the blade to slow down. have someone hold the part you are cutting off level or use another horse to support it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Design Flaw Prevents Straight Cutting The shoe is weakly secured to the saw, which causes the shoe to change position as you cut. The result is that as you apply pressure when using the saw, the shoe flexes and alters its position relative to the saw and the cut line. Of course, when you use the laser you think you're cutting straight, but when the shoe shifts so does the laser. Two design flaws cause the problem 1.) The depth guide slider is flimsy and does not stay in the track. The tightening screw can't apply enough pressure to keep the slider in the track. It needs a better pressure point. 2.) The bottom of the depth slider is loosely riveted to the shoe to allow the shoe to tilt for angle cutting. This connection cannot be tightened, so the shoe and the depth slider easily shift as you cut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw at a great price I love Ryobi. Some may by-pass them, thinking the quality/design must reflect the low price, but that is simple not the case. I've had my Ryobi 18V drill for 3 years now, with no problems. Anyhow, I used this saw all weekend cutting laminate board for some shelving and it did great. Plenty of power, comfortable rubber grips and helpful features like the LED work light and lasers. I preferred using my pencil line and the work light though. The weight of the saw is just right and the quality seems to be there. I like that it comes with a case and edge guide. Maybe contruction workers see the benefit in spending 2-3 times as much for a DeWalt or Milwaukee saw, but for the weekend warrior, this Ryobi is perfect. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best saw for money I bought this saw because it has has all the features of a 200 dollar saw for 70 bucks. I am a maintenance supervisor at a mobile home community and I operate a handyman business so this saw gets used everyday.14 amps cuts and rips like butter the laser is spot on despite what other people say cuts perfectly straight the led is nice too when lighting is low can't say enough about this saw I'm gonna buy another one next week

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good saw I bought this saw based on the fine performance of my Ryobi cordless tools. I haven't been disappointed. It replaced a Dewalt that was stolen. The blade does not have very much in-and-out play -- which is a good thing! Weight and balance are excellent. The only thing I would prefer is an aluminum or magnesium base, as I like them better than steel, but the Ryobi base works great. The laser is accurate and can be adjusted if needed. It has cut a lot of wood and still works great!
