HOW DOES THE BATTERY LAST ON ONE CHARGE ?

Asked by: ANNIE
Exactly 13 minutes, 8 seconds for me under optimal conditions (battery fresh off the charger with full charge, at room temperature) but blowing at full power the entire time.

Why is this Ryobi product still being advertised when it is not available?

I keep getting advertisements for this blower and seeing promises for it to be restocked, but I've showed it to two people at my local store (38801) and they don't know anything about it. The Home Depot web site also says "out of stock on-line". I need a a high-powered battery blower and have always been happy with Ryobi products, but the people at the store keep trying to steer me towards a different, new brand that they've given a much more prominent display. It looks good, but the brand has no track record and there are many fewer tools available. Is Home Depot keeping the Ryobi brand for outdoor products, particularly the 40V system? This is very important to know, as I will be investing in a new battery platform and want to be able to expand on it. Thank you.
Asked by: PapaG

I took it to a service center and after 3 weeks they replaced the battery. The unit worked twice after that and quit again. Now Ryobi refuses to do anything because I had a battery replaced under warranty?! The Warranty people were very NASTY, I guess you get that way when people are complaining about your products all day. I really liked this blower but it has to work more than 6 months. Really bumbed out, I just wanted to get my blower fixed. I would suggest not purchasing any Ryobi products

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and powerful blower I got this blower as a combo with a Ryobi weed eater. It's very powerful and comfortable to use, and the battery lasts a long time. This system is great for smaller suburban yards like mine and if you are trying to get away from gas-powered tools. No gas, no oil, no problem! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY THE 40V RYOBI PRODUCTS. I purchased the edger, weed trimmer and blower and this came ... DO NOT BUY THE 40V RYOBI PRODUCTS. I purchased the edger, weed trimmer and blower and this came with two 40V battery packs and two chargers that by all appearances are IDENTICAL. However, they apparently are not. You cannot use the 40V battery that came with the blower, for example, with the trimmer, nor can you use the chargers from the devices to charge the batteries. I began having issues with one of the 40V batteries and when calling support, they explicitly ask for the device serial number, battery serial number and charger serial number and they match all three together. If you purchased multiple devices like I did you have to go through them all to make sure you get all three that came together. The service rep states that you MUST use all three and cannot interchange any of the devices. So, I purchased 3 of the 40V Ryobi tools and made a bad assumption: your CANNOT use the 40V batteries amongst the devices. This is stupid. I have many other brands of battery tools: drills, blowers, saws, etc. and can intermix any battery by brand: RIGID -> RIGID, Dewalt -> Dewalt, etc. If you buy any RYOBI battery powered products, you have to label the device, battery, and charger and use ONLY those parts together. Don't put the 40V battery for the leaf blower in the 40V charger for the weed trimmer, it will nuke the battery. Same goes for the mower. I can't believe they would sell a product like this. I wish I would have figured this out sooner so I could return all of the products. I have no idea why they are rated so high.

Bought one of these last Saturday at hd...brought it home, charged it and got about 30 minutes of excellent blowing power before the battery died. Put the battery back in the charger Sun. Night. When I checked in the morning, the charger was still flashing red green. I tried the battery in the blower and got about 10 seconds of blow before it died. Went back in the charger but six hours later charger was still flashing. Called Ryobi and a tech told me I had a defective battery. Brought entire unit back to HD yesterday am and exchanged it. Brought the new one home and the EXACT same scenario played out. Just called Ryobi and got the same response. Major issues here!!

I do part time landscaping, This unit's power is adequate, but not Impressive but good enough to replace my corded Toro Ultra Blower. I was using my corded Toro 12 Amp ultra blower for about a year which has an amazing amount of power that can move bushes that I cut down and just about everything else. But I was sick of setting up the cord and then the cord coming lose etc I was wasting time and money. So I got this blower. I wanted something that could not only move grass but hard stones and rocks off the driveway as well. This unit lived up to that expectation. It's just ok for leaves on grass. But for really heavy jobs like blowing asphalt shingles that fell in my grass I would still need my Toro ultra blower. But for everything else this is now my main blower 95% of the time.

This blower for our applications of blowing off sidewalks, porches, gathering up pine needles and cones has met our needs well. It holds its charge a reasonable time to complete out tasks with a single charge. The trigger with volume control works well and allows for percise air flow. The maximum force is slightly less then I though it would be, but since it I don't require it that often it isn't a factor in directing air flow or force of air flow. It is light weight an easy to handle. I would recommend it for similiar applications.

It is good, but a little under powered. Needed more power to blow out gutters between roof and screen room/patio. Roof and screen room create a "v" that causes the gutter to fill with leaves. The leaves will deteriorate into wet mulch. The only way to remove the wet mess was with a trowel or big spoon. This blower handled the leaf mess without having to spoon it out. Very pleased with the power. I'm sure the normal drive way cleaning will be a snap. The blower is heavy. You can just let it hang on your arm and swing it back and forth to avoid most of the arm fatigue that the extra weight would add. If you have arthritic hands it may not be for you.

Now it won't charge. Started looking on the internet to find a way to solve this problem. What I found was that this is a common problem with this 40volt battery and this has been going on for a long time. Evidently, you can run the battery down to a point that is to low for it to be recharged. I've never had this problem with any lithium-ion battery on any my other cordless tools before. Don't understand why Home Depot would continue to sell these knowing there is this type of a design flaw. And of course I don't have the box or the receipt anymore. Going to take it back to Home Depot tomorrow and see if they will refund or replace. This will be my last Ryobi rechargeable whatever the out come. Shame on Home Depot for selling this junk.
