I own the Ryobi 40V mower, hedge trimmer, string trimmer and both the previous generation leaf blower and the latest model. I like all the tools because they are easy to use and the batteries work well, even though they fade out slightly near the "empty" mark, which is very noticeable on the lawn mower. But no sweat, swap in a fully charged battery and you are back in business. Simple, easy and clean.
My son owns a 36V leaf blower from a competitor and it out-performs this "high performance blower" by quite a bit, but it also cost twice the money. I am happy with Ryobi.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MikeB Convenient and comfortable to use
This blower is compact (32” long) and surprisingly powerful for a rechargeable unit. While it isn’t exactly light, it is well balanced and very comfortable to use. You basically use the weight of the unit to depress the trigger (it’s on the underside of the handle) so there is no hand fatigue when using it.
I tested the battery life several times and found that it operates for about 15 minutes of continuous use at full power. This is actually longer that it might sound since you would ordinarily use it on and off at varying power levels. And I found that the claim of a 90 minute recharge is dead-on. It has a series of lights to indicate the remaining battery power, which is useful. Rather than the power gradually decreasing as the battery discharges, it simply stops running when the battery has run its course.
I also have a back-pack style gas blower for the big jobs (I have many trees and must blow my entire yard several times per year). But for quick and relatively small jobs, you can’t beat this Ryobi. You don’t have to worry about gas or adjusting straps or anything, just grab it and go. It makes fast work of blowing off my deck and driveway. It also works well for maneuvering in hard-to-reach places like between bushes and on gutters, where it is awkward to position my back-pack blower. While it does have very good power, I would stop short of saying that its power is comparable to that of a gas machine.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jswobe Works great...for fifteen minutes at a time...
So I like this blower, generally. It's light. It has a lot of power. It's comfortable to hold and operate. The position of the handle and battery do a good job of balancing the unit and aiming it naturally. It will move some grass / debris / dried leaves / etc. Since it is battery operated - and not gas - it's relatively quiet. If you watch my video (below), it's hard to hear it at some points.
The battery life, however, is a little frustrating. It takes over 90 minutes to charge, and it only runs for 15 minutes (running flat out, full speed, no stops / starts). If you are stopping and starting while you move from place to place and then have to walk around something, aim again and then start, it will naturally last longer. 15 minutes is just the one-start, full power, battery maximum.
The blower is good for cleaning up grass and debris after mowing, or for cleaning out the garage once in a while, but it will never adequately blow all of the leaves off of your lawn in fall...unless you have a tiny lawn that can be done in fifteen minutes...in which case you probably don't need a blower for your leaves anyway. My only other issue with the unit is the trigger. It is made of plastic, like the entire tool. While said trigger is fairly thick, I worry that it might break or get damaged. I think I would have preferred a metal trigger and switch and the longevity it offers.
If you're not trying to blow all of the leaves off of your acre-sized lawn, it should suit your needs quite well. Additionally, my kids love it. They think it's a big green toy that they can use to chase each other, their parents, and the neighbor's dog.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BobC Unique leaf blower...
Ryobi 40 Volt leaf blower kit, Model RY40411. Received through the Home Depot Seeds program.
The Ryobi RY40411 is one of a series of 40 volt, lithium battery powered yard tools, this being one of the newest.
The tool is about 32 inches in total length, and weighs about 8.5 pounds with the battery attached. The blower body is about 6 inches in diameter, with a handle and battery mount above the main fan section of the blower. The blower is rated at 300 cu-ft/minute and a velocity of 155 mph. The description says it’s performance is “like that of a gasoline powered blower”. The 40 Volt battery alone weighs about 3 lbs. This is the hight capacity 40 volt battery, 94 Watt-hour unit, model OP4026. The battery has a 4-LED charge level indicator incorporated into the end of the case that can be checked by pressing the adjacent test button. This same battery is also used to power the Ryobi electric lawn mower, and several other Ryobi yard tools.
The blower kit comes with one battery, and a 40 volt charger, model OP400. A discharged battery charges in about 90 minutes according to the instruction manual. This blower is unique in that it has a “Fan” style bower, rather than the usual “squirrel cage” type. The operating handle has a variable speed trigger switch that allows the unit to run over a range of speeds. When running, it’s noise level is relatively low, which makes it easy on the ears.
In operation the blower performs well for moving leaves and grass trimmings on sidewalks, driveways and such. It provides more power than the 18 volt battery powered bowers, but I would not rate it as powerful as a gasoline powered bower. For use around a home it works very well. The variable speed control trigger provides good speed control, and can be handy when you don’t need a lot of force to move debris from an area. The light weight, instant on, no cranking connivence makes it great for quick on the spot use.
Observations: The 40 volt battery provides ample run time, and plenty of power for the “jet engine” like bower. For my use it has performed well, and it definitely out performs my 18 volt blower by quite a bit. I like the light weight, low noise, variable speed, and ease of use. This is a nice product with a unique design.
As to durability, time will tell. The Blower has a three year warranty. I hope this information has been useful.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by jillh2626 WARNING - BAD CHARGERS
Bought 40v blower 9 months ago and charger just stopped working. I was super dlligent to keep it unplugged when not charging, keep separate from battery, and store inside. I knew this would be extra work but was willing to do it for logevity of product. Still didn't make a difference. Read all the reviews under the purchase of the replacement charger and you'll see this has been happening to many!
LOVE the blower!! LOVE the trimmer!! Batteries seem fine, but TERRIBLE charger.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cajun Battery does not last as advertized
Manufacturer claim is that battery should last 40 minutes. Mine lasted 18 minutes, fully charged, on the first and second run. Called customer service; they said it needs three charges before full life. Have now charged it 4 times, still 18 minutes. Bringing it back today.
Intake is in wrong place, gets blocked by pants when swinging across body.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by perksdlx Great product
I bought this because my 2 cycle blower was leaking gas and I didn't want to deal with the whole mixing gas again. Also I already own the hedge trimmer so the batteries are the same. I am thoroughly pleased with this product, has almost as much power as my gas blower and is very easy to use. The only con I have is that the battery is a little hard to remove but not a big deal. I know that other reviews have said that the battery runs down fast (15 minutes). I have not experienced that, I can trim the hedges and cleanup the debris and do the driveway and sidewalk and still have battery left. All in all a great buy, am happy I did it.
