As far as I can tell, it is battery powered only. You can buy a battery and charger separately. If you have one of the other 40V Ryobi tools, the battery will work with this mower, too.

There is no plug outlet on the lawn mower. It only runs on the 40 volt battery. If you need a weed whacker, consider buying the Ryobi that comes with a 40 volt battery and use it for the lawn mower as well.

No, it does not come with a plug for a power cord. That would be a great feature. When you have more than 6 or 7 days of growth, the battery drains 50% faster - would be great to plug it in on those days and use battery for days with lower growth.

Answer:
No, we do not currently have any hybrid or dual power 40-Volt units. We realize lithium-ion batteries can be an investment, so we make sure to provide a “Tool Only” version for all of our kits. This is a great and inexpensive way to expand your collection, once you have a battery and charger.

Do not bother buying the battery and charger on their own. It will cost you over $110 for both items before tax. Spend the extra $40 and buy the leaf blower as well which includes the battery and charger. This way you'll get the extra tool and have the battery and charger for both the lawn mower and the blower.

Your most always better off buying Ryobi batteries with a tool. There are two mower options, one with batteries and one without. battery alone is like $130. You can almost buy a new trimmer with a battery and charger for that, (I'm thinking that's what I paid for my trimmer last year on a promo.)

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 386 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy this lawn mower This is mower #2 for me in this brand. The first one was a lead acid battery it fails within one year. The latest one was a 40v with the new battery type. The battery works the bower which came together but will not operate the mower. It was purchased on 7.2.2016 from home Depot, and fail on 10.4.2016, so home pot will not take it back. I created a fix ticket online with ryobi but no reply yet. I will never buy their equipment again. Never. October 15, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good and Bad This is a lightweight, easy to use lawn mower. I wish it had a longer charge life. Also, it would've been cheaper for me to purchase the lawn mower, battery and accessories in the store. I will never buy another Home Depot product online for this reason. October 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy this! Really enjoyed the lawn mower for the very short timeframe that it worked. October 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good product does my .33 acers on 1 battery easy to use. would buy again October 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi's Customer Service is non-existent I've owned this mower for 3 1/2 years. The batteries have a three year warranty and with proper care, died shortly after the year anniversary. I bought 2 replacements at $99 each only to see that they did not fully charge. When I returned them, all of the batteries were out of stock and learned that none will be available for at least 2 1/2 months. I contacted Ryobi about replacements and they had no solutions, not even a discount on new batteries when available. I learned a valuable lesson. Never buy a Ryobi battery power tool because if the batteries die and are unavailable, you are at their mercy. In addition to the battery issue, the padded handle started to deteriorate when the mower was a year old. It is stored inside and away from the elements. September 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT MOWER Lightweight and simple to use. Quite, sounds like a vacuum. Cut the whole lawn on one battery! September 27, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Like mower, dislike battery light weight and easy to use mower. Problem is the short life of battery. September 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RYOBI cordless mower the light weight of this mower is great, we purchased 2 batteries. Our lot is approx 1/2 acres and it takes 2 charges for each battery to finish. went from getting done in 1 hour to now taking approx. 4. still love the mower September 27, 2016
