Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dick I needed a scroll saw because.........
I am a DIY kind of guy and the tools I use don't need to be high quality and expensively made. I do a lot of metal art and my angle grinders get a lot of hard use. But some of my tools don't get used much at all. That is the way with this scroll saw. I had an old one that I bought years ago and it is made out of cast iron and is VERY heavy. I wanted something to replace that and I wanted something easier to use and lift. This RYOBIE Scroll saw fit the bill perfectly. I started using it right out of the box and it is sitting on my work bench right now. I am doing some laser engraving and need a scroll saw for some of my work. This one is perfect for me. I couldn't be happier. Anyone who is going to compare it to a $500.00 scroll saw is not thinking right. This scroll saw is priced just right for what it was meant for, if you want more than this, then spend more.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WoodHead1 Came Running Right Out of the Box!
This is my third or fourth Ryobi power tool purchase over the last few years. Once again, I am very impressed & pleased with the overall build quality that Ryobi continues with it's product lines. The ease of use of this scroll saw is excellent! I had researched all of the other brands and makers similar to this product/specs/price range and found Ryobi to be spot on with it's design and user-friendly approach to the design. Right of the box, the scroll saw came pre-installed with it's 5.0" pin blade and tensioned amazingly perfect. With it's cast iron base and solid cast aluminum table, it provides more than enough weight & stability on my workbench-though I may build a dedicated rolling shop stand for it soon. I immediately turned on the saw, and it performed awesome, amazingly quiet and smooth. For my model-making/minatures and even small woodworking items this scroll saw will be a perfect compliment to the other machines in my shop. The tool-less blade-changing is so simple & easy even my cat could do it...blindfolded. Am I a happy camper? You bet Ya! Will easily recommend this product to anyone looking for a stand-up scroll saw at a very good price point, product quality & value!

I was in the middle of a project when my rather old scroll saw broke and I was pleased to be able to buy this one at a very reasonable price and be able to complete the project. So far, it has performed up to my expectations.

Came ready to use right out of the box, blade installed and already tensioned. First blade broke pretty quickly as we learned to use the saw, but after some practice the next blade is still going strong with many hours of use, primarily 1/4" MDF.
This is our first scroll saw, but overall we're very pleased. Only issue we had was with the manual. If you don't have some experience with a scroll saw, the minimalist instructions included with the saw may not be of much use.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Corey Great for "larger projects" not so good for smaller pieces.
I love using a scroll saw. I grew up in my Uncles wood shop and got to use his Hegner. I don't have the money to buy a Hegner so I turned to Ryobi. I have quite a few Ryobi tools and have never had a problem. The saw works great except for small pieces of wood. The little green plastic part that surrounds the blade on the table doesn't exactly match the metal table so there is a lip and when I cut smaller pieces they are constantly getting stuck on the lip. Which is very annoying. I am trying to teach my wife how to use it and she got very frustrated and walked away because her piece kept getting stuck. That is the only drawback to the saw. It's small enough, has variable speed, good blade tension.
Oh yeah, I read on a couple reviews that the 2nd smaller blade didn't come with the pins on the ends of the blades. Mine did not either. Is that a design flaw or?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lenny Great saw for beginner/hobbyist
I'm sure that this saw isn't in the same league as those costing hundreds more but I was pleasantly surprised with the overall quality. I spent several minutes reading the instructions and fiddling with the various items on the saw prior to plugging it in. I experimented on a thin piece of the wood and was able to get everything set correctly in just a minute or so and was making nice smooth cuts in nothing flat. It's been years since I used one so I wasn't too worried about my lack of skill but found that I was able to follow my curvy lines drawn on my test sample without too much effort. At right at $100, this saw will fit my needs nicely and should last a long time. It comes with a blade, but I'd recommend picking up several extras with your purchase because you'll go through several blades as you learn to appropriately feed material. If I had to purchase another, I'd go right back to this one. I'm satisfied!

I was looking for a scrool saw for a long time but did not want to spend a lot of money on one since my use is not very frequent. After reading the reviews on this one and some other (even cheaper), I decided to buy it and I'm very happy with the purchase. It is not a professional grade tool but for my hobby purposes it is perfect. Easy to work with, low noise and vibration levels and reasonable quality. It is so good that I ended up using it way more than I expected. I bought some finer blades and have been cuting some aluminum shapes with very good finishing and ease of use. Overall, it is a great tool.
