Can i use car washing soap in the powerwasher?

Asked by: JoeK
Dear Anonymous: The instruction manual says to use soap designed for power washers. Probably due to the viscosity of the soap - car wash soap is very thick and could clog the machine - the soap designed for power washers is relatively light. Hope this helps Bob

Is there an extension wand for this model? The 36" PowerCare extension will not work with the 1700.

I bought the PowerCare 36 in. extension but it is meant to screw into a handle and the 1700 handle twists and locks in place.
Asked by: 1700fan
Hello 1700fan, there is no extension wand made for this unit. Thanks for reaching out!

What hind of soap can it use and where do you buy it?

Asked by: JJMCD001
Hey Jim! You can use any of the pressure washer detergents found at the Home Depot! They have all-purpose as well as ones designed specifically for driveways or one for siding. Thanks!

why won't it spray continuously and evenly?

after i removed it from the box i noticed a picture that looks like it is saying it sprays for 30 seconds continuously or the handle needs to be held for the same. no matter what i do the water comes out in a wave of high and low pressure. i cant get through any project this way! what's wrong with it?
Asked by: mika
that is lack of water pressure from your hose.

Easy to assemble with clear instructions. It's extremely easy to use & did a great job in cleaning my 20 year old driveway & sidewalks that had never been power washed. I sure it increased the value of my home plus the curb appeal improved! Not overwhelming power, but does just what I needed it to do. Great investment. I really like the power nozzle & hose that doesn't get tangled & the extention cord could be a bit longer, but used an extension cord. I've only used it once, but plan to make this usage more regularly. I love it! Oh.. and it's light weight & easy to move around..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product and great price This was a great product for the price. Not the most powerful, but definitely was powerful enough to clean our driveway and rock walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Pressure Washer! This is an amazing little machine! I bought it this Spring to clean my 600 sq ft patio slab to prepare it for paint. It was easy to set up, and I had it up and running in minutes. This is a powerful machine and was just what I needed. The turbo tip cleaned the patio quickly and perfectly and it made me want to clean everything! I just used it to clean my front stoop and sidewalk and it took no time at all! I cleaned the driveway too but that took a bit longer, but it hadn't been cleaned in many years and was covered in gook! I haven't used it with any solution yet (only water on the turbo setting) and I'm looking forward to cleaning the siding of my house in the near future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from potenial motor issues I returned it unopened. my daughter received one as a gift, motor came apart and chewed up the brushes after 6 months and limited use. Can't replace just the motor, pump and motor close to the price of a new unit. I thought I'd buy same model to have spare parts. After purchasing, I talked to my father- in-law who gave the gift, he bought one with the extended warranty, his motored smoked, got the replacement and gave it as a gift (unopened in the box). I read some of the reviews, several who had longevity of the product listed the same or similar motor issue so I returned mine. Home Depot customer service commented many of these get returned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase! This is a fantastic pressure washer, especially considering the price! I bought this specifically to clean the exterior of my house and get it ready for painting. It worked wonderfully! My house is both Austin stone (a very rough cut limestone) and vinyl siding. This pressure washer worked great on both surfaces. I was having so much fun using it that I also washed the front porch and half of the sidewalk before it got too dark to see. The pressure washer requires assembly, but it's very simple and quick. I had it out of the box, put together, hooked up to the hose, and in use in about 10-15 minutes. I used it for at least four hours straight, and it worked perfectly the whole time. You do have to spray very close to get the maximum amount of cleaning power. I held the nozzle no more than 6 inches away (and sometimes closer for the really dirty areas) from the house/sidewalk, and it cleaned very well. To get the high places on the house (I have a one-story house, and I'm only five feet tall), I used a ladder. It worked just fine, and I was able to easily reach the high areas. Just be aware that you won't get a lot of spraying power once you get more than about 12 inches or so away from the surface, which means that this pressure washer probably isn't a great choice for spraying the second story of a two-story house, unless you're willing to climb a tall ladder to get close enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful pressure washer!! I purchased the RYOBI electric 1700 pressure washer yesterday and absolutely LOVE it!! it is soooo much better than the Karcher 1800 that I previously had. It is easier to move around and the pressure is greater and the spot area is larger. I finished a job in 1/4 the time as I would have with the other machine. I cleaned my sidewalk with just water and pressure and didn't have to use any soap nor other cleaners. I wasn't able to get the "before" picture to go through but was able to post the final pic. The sidewalk was black when I first started it. It only took me less than an hr. to complete this job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is the first pressure washer I've ever used. It seems to do the job well. The spray hose is ... This is the first pressure washer I've ever used. It seems to do the job well. The spray hose is awkward as is the power cord, and even though it is on wheels, it is ungainly to move with the hose, spray hose, and power cord all connected. I have a feeling those issues would be present on any electric pressure washer, though, so I've given it four starts. I've only used it a few times, but it has done the job well. A few more nozzles would be nice, or at least room for more nozzles on board. Also, using the pump conditioner is very cumbersome, but again that is generic to pressure washers. I have many other Ryobi tools and they have been quite dependable and always adequate for the job, so I would recommend this pressure washer to homeowners and others with moderate requirements who don't want the noise, mess, and hassle of a gas-powered pressure washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive This is a great compact power washer. It was easy to assemble, it is easy to operate and it has just enough power to get the job done without being damaging.
