Answer:
Were you using it for hours straight? Or did you break up the time it is an electric motor and can get too hot. If you left it running without depressing the trigger to relieve the pressure it can over work itself and burn up. It's a good piece of equipment but not made for continued use without letting it cool down

My motor runs all the time. It runs at a slower "rpm" when trigger is not pulled. Pull trigger and it kicks up to handle the job. Seems ok on my end

Answer:
It should not run all the time. When you first turn it on you hear the motor then it should turn off until you pull the trigger.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful pressure washer!! I purchased the RYOBI electric 1700 pressure washer yesterday and absolutely LOVE it!! it is soooo much better than the Karcher 1800 that I previously had. It is easier to move around and the pressure is greater and the spot area is larger. I finished a job in 1/4 the time as I would have with the other machine. I cleaned my sidewalk with just water and pressure and didn't have to use any soap nor other cleaners. I wasn't able to get the "before" picture to go through but was able to post the final pic. The sidewalk was black when I first started it. It only took me less than an hr. to complete this job. August 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Item came with a used broken trigger handle My pressure washer came with a broken used trigger wand. I called cust svc and the man sent me a brand new one. He didn't seem surprised at all. I took pictures and he didn't even want to see them. Someone at Ryobi put a broken used part in my package. The cust svc to correct was excellent. I haven't used the pressure washer yet but wanted to mention for other purchasers. Everything else looks great.. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous Pressure Washer! This is an amazing little machine! I bought it this Spring to clean my 600 sq ft patio slab to prepare it for paint. It was easy to set up, and I had it up and running in minutes. This is a powerful machine and was just what I needed. The turbo tip cleaned the patio quickly and perfectly and it made me want to clean everything! I just used it to clean my front stoop and sidewalk and it took no time at all! I cleaned the driveway too but that took a bit longer, but it hadn't been cleaned in many years and was covered in gook! I haven't used it with any solution yet (only water on the turbo setting) and I'm looking forward to cleaning the siding of my house in the near future. June 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works like a charm ! I wanted to do a little sprucing up around the outside of my house. So I debated on getting the portable electric unit but decided on getting this one because of the wheels and easier to move around. It only took a few minutes to assemble and I was ready to go. I did add an extension hose onto my existing one so that it would reach my front porch. But once I got started there was no stopping me. I started on the pavers in the back yard walkway, then did the backyard concrete patio. Then I moved to the concrete front porch and walkway. Unfortunately I was unable to upload the before front porch photo due to its size, but I have attached the after photo of the front porch and before/after of the back pavers. What a difference it made. Never realized how dirty they all were. I would recommend wearing protective eyewear because there is a little backs plash from using the water wand, but it was a nice way to cool off on a hot day. ! July 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Pressure Washer! Performed very well. Spent about 12 hours (over three days) cleaning a very old deck. It was almost time to replace the decking, but this will make it last another couple of years. Also cleaned our 25 year old drive and sidewalk. it took off oil stains and all. Looks like new concrete now! Cleaned the brick front porch too. We cleaned our dirty deck furniture too! Just make sure to keep the head a couple of feet away from the fabrics. Thanks Ryobi!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Pressure Washer! After reading the reviews I decided to purchase. Great decision! I love this little machine! June 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by good unit untii the warranty expires Basically good unit. However the motor does not have replaceable brushes. I have had this unit for three years and it worked fine then all of the sudden using it, a big puff of smoke came out of the unit. After the unit cooled I opened it up and discover the brushes were worn and broken and the commutator destroyed. Too bad it is not built with replaceable brushes and reference of replacement in the manual, A set of $2 brushes would keep the unit out of the junk pile, Maybe this is the plan since this occurred two months after the warranty expired, They want 2/3s of the units new cost for a replacement motor, August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best one I've used Simply and easy to use. Powerful for it's size and delivered more than I expected. May 31, 2016
