Hi Rhiannonjae. This unit is to be used with the following fastener sizes:
Fastener Type............................................18 gauge staples
Fastener Range........................................5/8 in. to 1-1/4 in.

Hey there Tom! 1/4 would be the width. Manufactures may describe that as narrow crown. I hope this helps in your search!

Hi Newhomesteader. The main difference is that the crown stapler only fires narrow crown staples and the trim nailer is only meant to fire nails. Hope this helps!
