I am not big on cordless tools. Never really could justify buying the more expensive brands and had been turned off by the cheaper ones with no power or battery life. I changed my mind after buying this combo. I have only used the drill a couple of times so far so I can not talk about durability but the 18V model sure has plenty of torque to get most jobs done and the battery charge lasted far longer than I anticipated allowing me to complete the task at hand. Unfortunately, this combo is supplied with only one battery and the charger that it has is an overnight charger instead of a one hour charger. This alone has lead to a dilemma since a battery and charger cost more than the original price of the combo, significantly increasing the cost of ownership.

I went into Home Depot looking for a driver and circular saw set for a doghouse project. Heading straight for the tool aisle, I noticed a nice 18V set that included a driver, saw, sawzall and light for a few hundred, all in a nice black & yellow finish. Although I can never see myself using an 18V flashlight, I figure the sawzall would come in handy one day. I picked up the box and headed straight to the chekout. On the way, I nearly tripped over a pyramid of Ryobi drill/saw combo boxes. I couldn't believe the price it was going for. I all but dropped the other set and picked up the Ryobi combo. I was able to cut through all of the 3/4" plywood and drive all the screws for the doghouse that very nice. One of the best tool buys I've had to date. Excellent value.

I was a fan of ryobi and have multiple impact drivers and drills and drill drivers. I have been impressed with the entire concept of these using the same batteries and providing an upgrade to lithium power without requiring new tools. When I purchased the saw I realized that it would not be equal to a normal saw, but when I tryed to cut two layers of shingles without anything under them it would not accomplish such a small task. I was very disappointed and will be discarding it as the piece of garbage that it is.

This is the second Ryobi Drill/saw combo I have purchased. I bought the first one about five years ago and used the drill motor a lot for cabinets, theater sets, household repairs, drilling steel, etc. It finally died about a month ago and I bought another one right away. There may be better drill motors on the market but not for that price. I have given the drill/saw combo to each of my three children as well. The only change I made was to put a better blade on the saw.

Normally, I would be giving this combo a good review. I have owned several Ryobi items in the past and they were always a good value. This one is a waste of time. While the price is good (special holiday price of $49.88), the charger that comes with the combo takes 10 to 12 hours to charge the battery! I now have to buy another charger that will work in a couple of hours. This is hardly worth the "get you in the store" pricing.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Xercisis Good Value for the Money!
I have only had the Drill and Saw for a week. I have exercised with daily and routine tasks (Mixing 5gal of Mud included).
This is a Good value for the money and it meets my performance expectations.
Weight a bit Heavy..
Battery life Good...
The real test for me is dependability, durability and longevity. This is my 1st RYOBI!
I say Absolutely Buy if you can get if for under $90 for the set...

I picked this set up today for $50, took it straight to the jobsite, and used both the drill and saw right out of the box. The units feel really solid when you handle them, and the battery came with enough charge to drive screws into wood and cut drywall for a couple of hours. I like the size and weight of the saw. I think it might be a little lighter than the drill, and it didn't feel awkward doing one-handed cuts with it as a standard circular does to me (didn't feel like it was going to slip and chop my fingers off). Both of the units feel nicely balanced when the battery is in place. The drill also has a cool little magnetic pad at the base of the handle that I was sticking screws to. One thing I would've liked is a bag, even some cheap nylon sack, but this set doesn't come with one. I read some other positive reviews on this set before I bought it, and I'm very pleased with it.

We have bought a half dozen of these drill combo set over the past couple of years and they perform very well in abusive work conditions. The saws don't get used often, but the drills are used daily in variety of conditions. We've yet to have a problem with any of them. We plan on buying a couple more to replace some of the other big name brand drills that have worn out.
