18-Volt NiCad Starter Combo Kit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 169.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable Cordless Tools I'm very pleased with this combo. Two battery packs, charger, saw, drill and bag for $99 is great, sometimes on sale for $79 is amazing and you should grab it at either price. I have had zero issues with either tool or the batteries in a year now of regular use. Cutting through 2x4s and 2x6s for my garden border was fast and easy. I use this saw far more than my corded 7 1/4" circular saw because it is powerful and convenient. The drill is powerful and quiet. I like the two speed option as well and the magnet on the handle is a great idea for holding screws. I think this starter kit is great for most homeowner tasks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value, nice features, Good Starter For the money the features and performance cannot be matched in anything I have found so far. I really wanted the cordless circular saw, but it was a better deal (now that these tools are sold without the battery and chargers) to get this starter kit which included a drill, circular saw, two batteries (old style) and a charger. I use the circular saw to cut cabinet panels of thin finished plywood, and it works great, the added benefit was the drill which is much stronger and nicer than the high end cordless drill I had. I also like that they support their older batteries and the newer batteries on the same equipment and chargers, a good move.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm sold forever I had the 4 pack combo before & never had any trouble until they got stolen out of my truck. So now I got the starter kit & I love the level bubble built in the drill & the fact I could use the tools as soon as I took them out of the package ,they were already charged. Now I can slowly get the jig saw & any other power tools I need down the line.I can get a good job & a good tool for a great price.I'm sold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P824 Kit: A Great entry-level choice The P824 Kit is a fantastic value for folks wanting to buy into the Ryobi One+ system. The kit comes with two P100 NiCD batteries and a P115 1-Hour Fast Charger. If you keep one battery on the charger while you're using the other in a tool, you should never be without power when you need it. The P206 drill is durable and a hard worker, and it's the next step up from the P205 drill (with 3/8" chuck) that's found in many of Ryobi's other entry-level kits (e.g., P807, P835, P893). The P206 boasts TWO bit holders and an extra bubble level in the handle, features which aren't found on any of the other Ryobi "blue" drills. (The next drill up the chain would probably be the P204 with it's smaller size and faster no-load speeds.) Finally, this kit comes with a P501 circular saw. I've seen many reviews pan this saw for inadequate power, but I disagree. I use mine regularly to cut 2x4s and plywood. Yes, it does go through batteries quickly, but not nearly as fast as some reviewers claim. To extend the run-time I usually make a few cuts then immediately swap batteries on the charger while I'm making use of my freshly cut pieces. The typical price of the P824 kit is only $10 more than that of the P850 kit which is similar but without the circular saw. So you essentially get the P501 circular saw for $10!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Good Price The drill is a work horse, plenty of torque and good run time. The two speed and clutch operation are great. Battery power last and lasts. Very happy with the Drill. The saw works very well. Don't expect it to act like a corded saw, understand it's limitations and it will serve you well. Blades that are dull will destroy your batteries, keep your blades sharp, (they are cheaper to replace than batteries) and make sure your batteries are totally discharged before recharging. Don't force the saw through the wood, allow it to cut at it's own pace. This will save your batteries and the blades. It's a good saw for the price, just don't expect too much from it. Back yard project definetly, contractor no. For the price and overall performance it's a good product. I would recommend this combo to friends based on the price and product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ryobi Ni-Cad Saw and Drill Kit- I was on a job recently where my client let me use his Ryobi drill, and I liked it. After scouting the intenet, I found the P-824 kit at the Home Depot for $79, and purchased it. The saw is very well made and has the feel of a larger saw- a great tool. The drill has penty of torque, and the batteries charge quickly. For $100, this seemed like a good deal, but on sale, even better! The thing I do not like about the kit is the cheaply made bag. I would have prefered a nice blow-molded case, but they cost more to make, and would probably drive the price up?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Home Use! My husband purchased this to use while restoring two balconies on our home--working high up on a ladder. He had been using an old corded drill and circular saw. The new Ryobi drill and saw worked beautifully every day. He is very pleased with the purchase and wished he had bought this set years ago. A great value for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cordless is wonderful, Ryobi suprised me This set was an iffy selection for me personally. I like to stick with Ridgid products, as I have a Ryobi chop saw (mitre saw) which works well (4/5 stars) and a Ryobi jig saw which I would give a 3/5. This set was MUCH cheaper than the Ridgid set up that would have cost me well over 200 for a single battery, charger and saw (no drill included or extra battery). I got this just for the circular saw. Needed to have something to cut plywood because I was sick of struggling with my table saw and jig saw. I brough this home, and even with just a BIT of power left in the battery, I charged it for a couple minutes and was able to rip right through 2 pieces of 3/4 inch MDF and 3/4 pine boards with ease. The dust spit-out was a surprise but then again, I'm not very familiar with other circular saws, but wear goggles and if you're easy to sneeze, a mask. It did cut right through it, with plenty of power even on a low battery, so I'm sold right off the bat. Charged the batteries and used the saw again on some 3/4" pine and it sliced through it like butter, and that made me want to come write a review because I was almost scared away with the 2/5 star review I read on here earlier. I would suggest this for a few reasons: 1 - you get a circular saw (5 1/2" blade) that's cordless with ***2 batteries (the listing says 1, but you get 2) and a 1 hour charger*** along with a cordless drill (you could always use an extra drill for when the other dies down and in case you're building and have a pal over who needs a drill to make the job go faster!) 2 - you get all this under 110 bux! Like I said, Ridgid is my favorite, but for a weekend builder, I can't afford to spend > $200 on one cordless tool with one battery and one charger. 3 - Ryobi did well with this package!
