I picked up this combo pack... The drill works great and has adjustable speeds. The saw works great for small projects but once the battery voltage gets about 18.5 it's pretty much useless and needs to be recharged.
I would suggest you use a fully charged battery when using the saw.. which might be good for a half dozen cuts.
The drill seems to perform better under the lower voltage reading (18.5) but I haven't gotten to the point of checking the voltage when the drill no longer performs.
Overall, I'm happy with the combo... great for those single jobs where you don't want start pulling out extension cables.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Allthumbs52 Good unit for the occasional handyman
I bought this unit back in may, 2011 just to have a few cordless tools around. i then decided to use this unit to build a new 10x10 wood shed in my back yard this summer. The drill has a lot of power and good battery life. The saw performed well in cutting 2x4's and 5/8" plywood, but drains the battery quickly, as would be expected. As soon as it starts to bind, charge the battery. The safety button on the saw is well placed and easy to hit with small hands.
I do not do a lot of my own work, but for occasional use i would recommend this unit.

This is a pretty good kit for casual DIYers. I am highly impressed with the drill and have found that the magnet below the handle is extremely handy. I have used my drill to build a garage all with screws including dry walled. Built a fence this summer again all with screws and the drill has kept on ticking even after my little 14v BD drill motor burnt out.
The saw however is another story. The manual on this saw says that it will cut a lot more then it actually does. Bought this mainly to use when roofing my garage but after 1 cut the battery drained. There simply isn't enough power to use over a number of cuts. I have since pulled it out a few times to use and always have the same issue. Thus my average rating of 3 for the kit as a whole.

I'm very pleased with this combo. Two battery packs, charger, saw, drill and bag for $99 is great, sometimes on sale for $79 is amazing and you should grab it at either price.
I have had zero issues with either tool or the batteries in a year now of regular use.
Cutting through 2x4s and 2x6s for my garden border was fast and easy. I use this saw far more than my corded 7 1/4" circular saw because it is powerful and convenient.
The drill is powerful and quiet. I like the two speed option as well and the magnet on the handle is a great idea for holding screws.
I think this starter kit is great for most homeowner tasks.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TomInPinole Great value, nice features, Good Starter
For the money the features and performance cannot be matched in anything I have found so far. I really wanted the cordless circular saw, but it was a better deal (now that these tools are sold without the battery and chargers) to get this starter kit which included a drill, circular saw, two batteries (old style) and a charger. I use the circular saw to cut cabinet panels of thin finished plywood, and it works great, the added benefit was the drill which is much stronger and nicer than the high end cordless drill I had. I also like that they support their older batteries and the newer batteries on the same equipment and chargers, a good move.

I had the 4 pack combo before & never had any trouble until they got stolen out of my truck. So now I got the starter kit & I love the level bubble built in the drill & the fact I could use the tools as soon as I took them out of the package ,they were already charged. Now I can slowly get the jig saw & any other power tools I need down the line.I can get a good job & a good tool for a great price.I'm sold.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ToolboyNC P824 Kit: A Great entry-level choice
The P824 Kit is a fantastic value for folks wanting to buy into the Ryobi One+ system.
The kit comes with two P100 NiCD batteries and a P115 1-Hour Fast Charger. If you keep one battery on the charger while you're using the other in a tool, you should never be without power when you need it.
The P206 drill is durable and a hard worker, and it's the next step up from the P205 drill (with 3/8" chuck) that's found in many of Ryobi's other entry-level kits (e.g., P807, P835, P893). The P206 boasts TWO bit holders and an extra bubble level in the handle, features which aren't found on any of the other Ryobi "blue" drills. (The next drill up the chain would probably be the P204 with it's smaller size and faster no-load speeds.)
Finally, this kit comes with a P501 circular saw. I've seen many reviews pan this saw for inadequate power, but I disagree. I use mine regularly to cut 2x4s and plywood. Yes, it does go through batteries quickly, but not nearly as fast as some reviewers claim. To extend the run-time I usually make a few cuts then immediately swap batteries on the charger while I'm making use of my freshly cut pieces.
The typical price of the P824 kit is only $10 more than that of the P850 kit which is similar but without the circular saw. So you essentially get the P501 circular saw for $10!
