Customer Reviews

18-Volt ONE+ 1/2 in. Cordless Hammer Drill (Tool-Only) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still drilling holes in bricks after 3 years! All I have to say is that I bought this drill when I was desperate to drill holes in brick for a high visibility project, and not only did I get the job finished by the deadline, now I own the best drill in the world. This thing is smooth yet strong, even after 3 years of medium duty use. I haven't dropped it from a ladder, so I can't speak for it's use as a basketball, but as a drill and a hammer drill this thing makes drilling holes in brick trivial work. it is awesome! Ok, now that I've purchased the new green and silver Lithium Ion battery packs and charger, this drill is even better than when I originally bought it. It is a workhorse worth every penny of $250 - oh wait, that's what the other drills cost, this one only cost $70. Hmmm, this should be an easy decision for anyone invested in the One+ system...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Buy After reading the review about the six foot drop and not working properly, I was a bit concerned about purchasing this drill. I decided to take a chance since I don't typically toss my tools around. I used it to drill into a variety of surfaces like block walls, concrete floors, and boards in order to finish my basement. I must say even after accidentally droping the drill from about four feet, it still works great. The side handlebar helps to put a little extra weight into the project. This drill is perfect for the price I paid. Works great and gets the job done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picked this up during closeout, and love it! I picked this hammer drill up during closeout for only $25 and it's performed great. I've drilled up to 1/2 inch holes in rebar reinforced concrete with no issues. The included handle really helps to control the drill and give a bit more pressure during hammer operations. I'll eventually upgrade to one of the green models, but since this tool refuses to die and has more than enough power, it might be a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ryobi comes through again! I needed a hammer drill for some concrete work I have been attempting to do over the last few days. My non-hammer drills simply will not do the job. Enter this P212 I picked up today and Wow, the holes are drilled in minutes. The drill feels solid, looks of good quality and fits the hand great. For $69, I don't think there is a better deal for a cordless hammer drill. The One+ Lithium ion batteries provide plenty of power. I already had two of those so the bare drill is just what the home doctor ordered. What would we do without Home Depot?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome & Dependable Product This is another great Ryobi product It has great features & is really a tough tool. It matches with my other Ryobi tools(worklight, sander, recip saw) that use the same 18 volt battery and that is primarily why I purchased this one vs. one of the newer Lithium powered products. I am a big DIY person and got this primarily because I was building a "Trex" style 12'X12' deck and needed to have a really reliable deck drill. I have several other manufacturers cordless drills (kawasaki, makita, B&D) and wanted to compare them with the Ryobi. Hands down this product is way better. It never overheated, withstood an amazing amount of abuse and continued without a glitch. The removeable/reversable side handle is a great feature when building the deck's foundation, especially when trying to secure beams & joists at an angle in tight spaces. It handled 5" screws through pressure treated 4X4's with ease and breezed thru the 4.5' deck screws. The only reason I did not give it an excellent rating is that it is not a lithium battery product but I knew that when I bought it. Although I think you can use a lithium battery with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very solid, cheaper than the competition I bought this because my corded hammer drill died right near the end of a basement framing project. I already have other Ryobi One+ products and it was about $30 less than the next competitor; but I was surprised by how heavy this is. It has a very solid feel to it and it feels very powerful when the trigger is fully squeezed. Although it was slower than my corded hammer drill, it still ate through the concrete floor and cinder block walls easier than I expected. If there's any drawback to it, it's that the depth guide can only be adjusted when the side handle is loosened. I would have much preferred something like an easy locking lever. Also, removing the side handle is a bit of a chore in and of itself. I ended up having to time when I did and didn't need the handle so that I wouldn't have to waste time screwing and unscrewing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use the higher Speed Setting (i.e. "2). Had a really hard time drilling into the concrete slab of my basement until I slid the speed switch from "1" to "2". Drill went into the concrete like butter at that point. I may have missed this info in the manual or in other posts, but I wanted to make sure that others had this info before leaving a bad review about it not working well. Not sure I would use this hammer drill if I was a tradesman, but for finishing a (just one) basement or weekend warrior type jobs, I highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of good reviews I have also had my drill for about 2 years. Its done a lot of woodworking and construction projects. No matter what the task it keeps coming back for more. I have even had it in the hands of kids who really don't know what they are doing and still this drill delivers every time I pick it up. I have 4 different drills, 2 corded and a right angle drill, this is the drill I always reach for first. Hammer capability is ok for small jobs but the heat buildup in the motor that occures from constant and larger hammer drill tasks tends to wear down this drill a bit, for those larger tasks I still reach for a corded hammer drill. For general drilling tasks this has been absolutely great and i've used it on job sites against other more expensive drills. I kept pace with my drill all day long and was able to do everything the pricier drills did. I do recommend you invest in the Lithium battery, the older NiCad's do have a tendancy to loose their life and if you don't stay in a good cycle of recharging they tend to take less and less charge over the course of time. Also, I have noticed the NiCad's charge faster on the new charger built for both the Lithium and NiCad batteries. Overall, this drill is worth more than I paid for it, something I hardly ever say about a tool. As part of the one+ family of tools its great to have a few batteries and a lot of dependable tools that don't break the bank as the price of ownership.
