CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice drill I have used this drill for typical household reno work and it performs really well. no problem drilling into the concrete foundation, bricks or mortar on our typical house. The only fault I have with this drill and the conventional drill/driver is that the bits sometimes loosen as you can only hand tighten the chuck, otherwise a good tool. December 26, 2008
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NICE COMPACT HAMMER DRILL BUT CHUCK COULD BE BETTER I purchased this last fall but had my first use of it today. I had to drill a series of holes thru a concrete driveway to install poles for a chain link fence. I drilled 12 to 15 holes in a 3+ inch circle and sledged out the middle so i could install the poles. (A total of 40-45 drilled holes 4+ inches deep, to create 3 holes for the poles.) This unit worked great for the first 5 holes then the 3/8" bit came loose. As I found out, I had to keep re-tightening the chuck for every hole. Other than the chuck issue, I am very pleased with this hammer drill. I did not attach the handle or use the depth rod, so I cannot give info about them. June 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Medium to light duty user I am the maintenance supervisor at a fairly large church campus (8 buildings on 15 acres) most of our buildings are brick construction so I need a hammer drill to mount and repair things around the church on occasion. This drill is convenient and powerful enough for my purposes. I use it about once a month. I don't know how many holes it will drill on a good charge but it drilled four 1/2 in holes 2-1/2 inches deep in hard concreteand still had plenty of reserve power to do more. I have a 3/8" VSR drill and an impact driver that use the same batteries so I am happy with their performance in daily use. I would recommend this for light to medium use...I don't know how it would work for real heavy use but it might do just fine. February 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice inexpensive hammer drill Overall this is a solid performer. It drills well in just drill mode and hammer drill mode. There is a mode to limit the torque for driving screws but i don't use it. It has plenty of torque in either range, be careful if the drill binds up. Run time with Ryobi's 4 amp hour battery is great, and poor with the lowest ni-cad (mine are old and not in great shape, just to lazy to get rid of them). The chuck works nice and tightens down well and is easy to release too. The way the handle attaches could have been a little better, it looks and feels a little cheap. You can see the plastic in the drill housing get stressed if you tighten it too much. The drill depth stop actually works pretty well. Helps get a little extra life out of masonry bits, by not drilling deeper than you really need to. April 1, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by looked okay on paper... I thought this drill would be a nice upgrade to the drill that came in the Ryobi One kit. However, after using it for about three months of non-commercial use; the front bearing is loose which causes the chuck to wobble badly, the drill does not have enough power to run a 1" speed bit without stalling out constantly, and the drill began to make a grinding sound. The power on this drill is weak at best. On the high speed setting I can stop the chuck from spinning with little effort. If I put a little strain into it, I can stop the chuck on the low speed setting as well. My 1996 9.6 volt blue body drill has more power. Unfortunately, I love all of my other Ryobi One tools but to do the job I require, I will have to buy a drill from a different brand. April 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hammer drill works much better than i expected. saves a lot of time drilling concrete. May 12, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement for Makita. Works ok, gets the job done, little on the heavy side, but a good drill for the money. April 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by need to tight the chuck every two screws I think title speaks for itself. this is the worst drill ever. March 25, 2015
