Does this come with a battery? The picture makes it look like it does not.

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: JMoto
Most of the 'individual' tools do not come with any batteries or chargers. Most kits come with an assortment of different battery and charger combinations.

Customer Reviews

18-Volt ONE+ 1/2 in. SDS-Plus Cordless Rotary Hammer Drill (Tool-Only) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 100.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool with limitations. I purchased this for occasional use and for the convenience of being cordless. I used it today for the first time and it took exactly 56 seconds to drill a 1/2 inch hole 3 1/2 inches deep in a 26 year old concrete slab in good condition (concrete was made with hard round river rock not crushed limestone). The corded rotary hammer I usually use would have done it in half that time or less but I would have needed to bring a generator and and an extension cord to use it. I looked at the non-paid comparative reviews and side by side testing before I purchased this and the ones that did better cost as much as 8 times more, many of the ones that cost more including the dewalt did worse or equal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Know what You are Buying It is a great tool as long as you know a few things. It has an SDS chuck, which means you need special drill bits; it cannot handle regular bits. Second, it switches from drill only to drill + hammer; it cannot perform hammer only, so it cannot take chisels. With this in mind, it is a great tool and performs the tasks well. A great add to my Ryobi collection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ryobi Chordless Hammer Drill As an electrician I often have to run conduit on concrete or masonry walls. With this drill it goes so much faster, no need to drag around extension chords. And with the lithium ion batteries I can drill 1/4" holes all day for anchors. It does seem to eat the batteries on holes much bigger than a half inch, but again with the lithium ion batteries it only takes about a half hour to charge so before I burn through a battery another is charged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I usually drill 1/4" , 2" deep holes for anchors and can drill 50+holes before the battery even thinks about stopping. Its light weight and has plenty of power for the price. I use the one+ 4AH batter for the best life. Not sure why the other reviewer was using Nicads when the LI are available and last so much longer. Wish it had hammer only setting but thats why its not super expensive. Oh and its hard to leave behind cause its such a bright green!! And my co-workers wont touch them because for some treason, they dont like ryobi

Rated 4 out of 5 by from portability I have a corded hammer drill which I use often. The problem I've run into more and more often is that there's no power available to plug my drill into. My new Ryobi hammer drill was put into use as soon as I received it. I was in a location without power available and had to mount furring on a cement block wall to complete a vinyl siding job. The drill worked great and the fact I had batteries from my other Ryobi tools available, I didn't have to wait for battereies to charge to complete the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality and unexpensive Ryobi tools get professional work done I have been doing commercial HVAC since mid-2010, and I have used this rotary hammer (and about six other cordless Ryobi tools) to build ductwork in new hospitals, schools, apartment buildings, and super stores (Walmarts). Ryobi tools are rated as DO-IT-YOURSELFER tools. However, I have used them for PROFFESSIONAL work. And, yes. They get the job done. I start to see more Ryobi tools in job sites. They all come with a 3 year warranty (just like Dewalt's). But, without the expensive price tag. the only bad thing I find in this rotary hammer is that it doesn't have a "hammer only" function--- I couldn't put chisels in it in order to break concrete. but, for the price, I can't really complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as described. I work in light construction and use this to drill mostly concrete anchors, works great. I do occasionally have to drill 9'+( I use a 12' 1/16 bit then a 12' 3/8 bit to save on wear and tear and battery ) for wires to cameras and other devices, works OK when drilling that much at one time. I do recommend that you use the 4ah batteries just so you dont have to swap out batteries nearly as often. Its not made to drill 9' of concrete but will do if you are not to hard on it. IF you use if for bigger holes, it will melt the batteries because its using so much power to ge ti t done. A larger SDS is better for coring but then a Hilti is 600 bucks plus!
