Customer Questions & Answers

How large of a board can it cut?

The description says maximum cut depth is 1 1/4 inches. Does this mean that it cannot cut through a 2x4? (I realize that a 2x4 is actually 1.5 x 3.5).
Asked by: Daniel
I will cut anything up to x4. When you get to cutting the angels its a bit small. . Overall its a really nice saw. Very portable. As with any tool match it to the work. .

For cutting trim it's perfect, for 2X4 go slow but it will work. All together wished I would have spent the money for a bigger, corded model

I was able to use the Miter Saw with the battery for over an hours, redid 2 ramps and a 6 tier Step.

Like most of the ONE+ series, it seems well made, sturdy and functional. You do need to take the cuts slowly but you can't realistically expect plug in performance. I get about 40+ cuts on 2x4'S with the newer hi-cap batteries. Wouldn't replace a AC powered unit if you need to do cuts all day long but great for those various DIY projects. Having this tool as part of my 12v collection really helps me be independent from needing 120v which really adds to my SHTF capability should it ever come to that.

Pretty powerful! saw , very light, and easy to carry around. Only negative-Laser guide is difficult to see in bright daylight but I am sure thats the same with all brands! Best of all no cords! I love this saw. So far no issues! The 18v battery last forever and keeps going and going.. very satisfied in that aspect!. I don't think you can beat it for the value at $99. If you are a pro and use this everyday then you may want to go a couple of steps up to the next level and spend another $400 or so and get all the bells and whistles. But for the everyday DYI, handyman, or just for a pro backup, buying this is a no brainer.

I have a larger 12" miter saw, but it is heavy and bulky and hard to transport for small jobs. I thought for small trim jobs this would be perfect and it is. If you want to cut 300 2x4 this is not the saw for you. Max cutting is 1.5" and I would definitely say that is the max. First, if considering this saw buy and better blade. I bought a 40 tooth Diablo blade and it cuts much better. Plus, less strain on the motor ( Always use a sharp blade). Overall, this is a great little saw for the size and money. It is also very portable which is the main reason I bought it. If I could change one thing I wish it had a little more power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I picked this saw up to cut used fence pickets for building stage props. I didn't expect much more than that, and would have been happy if that is all it could do. IT struggled cutting through 2x4s, but if you didn't force it, it would make the cut. I recently found a new respect for the saw though, when I realized that I was using the included blade and thought to myself it probably could stand an upgrade. I installed a 7-1/4" Diablo Demo Demon blade and this saw sprang to life! WOW! It will rip through 2x4s now, and the cuts are much cleaner. I haven't had it stall out once since changing the blade. If you pick up this saw, go ahead and grab the Demo Demon to go with it. You won't be sorry!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice for basic trim, but limited by size and questionable stops I used this saw, along with the Ryobi cordless nailers to do a large crown/trim install in our master bedroom (I also replaced the blade with a trim blade). While the saw did the job, and is a pretty good value for the money (considering the cost savings by doing it myself), I found the ball stops very frustrating and never felt 100% confident the stop was truly locked in the right place. That can be a problem with fine trim work. (To be clear what ball stops are, instead of using hard latch stops that click securely into a groove, this tool uses a ball bearing roller that "rolls" into an indent, and therefore it is possible to be slightly off center...I see this potentially getting worse with wear too). In short, ball stops are a terrible design, and the saw would improve greatly with true positive stops. Also, I am wondering if Ryobi is going to get with the program and come out with a slider like their competitors, which would also solve the "arggg it's just slightly too small" problem that I experienced a few times when cutting some larger trim. Since I also have an investment in Makita tools, I am on the verge of getting their cordless slider to take on my next project. So a note to Ryobi - take this saw, keep the laser, make it a slider, add true positive stops and add the ability to use one OR two batteries for 36v of power and you will have a winner. Also, feel free to send me one for evaluation if you make it :) Bottom line, for what it is and its cost, I recommend it but be aware of limitations.
