My wife is refinishing 2 chairs with new fabric. I want to get her a staple gun that doesn't require a compressor, not too heavy/bulky, but a stable piece of equipment.

Will this work?

Thank you for your answers.

I have used it on canvas for art work and it work perfect. Although I have not used on fabric yet I think the way it worked on canvas for me it should work with no problem on fabric. Its a good easy tool to use as well.

This is a narrow crown stapler. For fabric you usually one that is wider. It is a great stapler and I would recommend it however it may not be what you use on fabric.

This should work really well as long as the chair bottom is thick enough. I like the fact that you can dial back the pressure. This is one of my favorite tools to use.

If your wife is upholstering just a few pieces, and the fabric is relatively "sturdy", then she should have no problems at all. Just remember that this is a narrow crown stapler. Upholstery staplers are medium or wide crown tools so that there is a wider contact with the fabric and so that thinner fabrics don't rip between the staple legs.

I've used this gun for a variety of small upholstery applications, and I've been completely satisfied. But upholstery isn't my occupation. If I were doing that full time, I would be inclined to buy an upholstery stapler and a small compressor. Read Less

Yes, this is perfect for refinishing chairs etc. Be sure to test out the pressure you choose on a test piece with a little fabric and then you'll be off and running. You'll never want to use anything else with fabric once you see how easy the crown stapler is to use.

Bought mine in store last night, with the brads, in stock locally where I live, you can go on Home Depot website, select a store near you by your zip code, and check stock on the item at several local stores to you before you go to buy, also, you can order online, and have it shipped directly to you, (NOTE some states do not allow shipping on certain items).

I used it to hang 11/16" x 4' x 12' plywood on the ceiling of covered porch last year and it is still hang'in. I used the longest staples available which I believe were 2". We have 160' spot that is my intention to put up a 4' fence. I will use 2 horizontal rails and fill in with 4" x 4' vertical cedar spaced about 3/8" stapled across the grain 3 top and 3 bottom.

I would say you can use it to hold your picket in place, but I would also sink a galvanized screw. You could probably get away with one screw per plank if you used the stapler. Use the maximum staple size you can....and if you can find galvanized, all the better.

With the power it produces and some of the stuff that I have used it on I think it would work fine. I would put a minimum of 2 staples per load area with the longest staple you can use.

I myself don't see why it couldn't as long as you have the right size fastener and the time to do it because it lacks a little on speed versus an air compressor backed nailer but that is the convenience of this tool no extra stuff to drag around.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Locks up constantly. I have had this stapler for about 6 months now. Started out working well. I say well because it only locked up once. I use the stapler probably more than the overage person but every time it locked up more and more. Now it has completely locked up, Its been cleaned and greased to no avail. Went to use my warranty and Home Depot told me they only honor a 30 day warranty and to contact Ryobi. Ryobi then told me to go back to Home Depot and they should send it back. Around and around we go. Needless to say if you are planning on using this tool alot (once a week) look at a better brand. September 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi battery powered staple gun Ryobi battery powered staple gun The product worked well with the 3/4" staples, but didn't drive the 1 1/2" staples all the way in. Perhaps it was the type of wood or else the gun was a little short on power. But overall I am satisfied with it. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy underlayment install I have a couple of other Ryobi ONE+ tools, so this is not my first experience with their products. We had to replace the all underlayment in our kitchen due to water damage. I tore out the old flooring and discovered that the preferred method to install the new underlayment was with staples (news to me). I figured I would have to rent an air-driven stapler and found this when I was looking for alternatives. It was easy to adjust the amount for force behind the staples so they would go the proper amount into the wood. I'm not sure how many staples I was able to drive per charge of the battery. I have one of the smaller batteries (that came with my drill) but that never became an issue. I just popped the battery back in the charger while I measured and cut the next piece. No air hoses - just a battery and staples. It was easy to operate and didn't kill my hand. It was definitely worth the price. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use right out of the box! Used this tool to attach carpet to stairs. Easy to load, never missed a staple. You can control the air pressure and the depth drive of the tool. Fawless performance. August 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great for small jobs. Only complaint I have is it runs outof staples rather quickly. Not huge deal just make sure you buy lots of staples aND keep keep them close. Otherwise works and functions great! August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cordless stapler Very reliable tool that has worked exactly how I needed it to do, September 14, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Adequate, mostly The first one I brought home broke after one stack of staples. The driver bar came loose and would not return. The replacement has been working fine for two weeks. This is typical of the brand's reputation for erratic quality. Haha -when I returned the first one, the girl at the return desk remarked that people bring a lot of tools of that brand back. Maybe Ryobi needs to take a good look at their quality control. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use, works great Tried it right out of the box and it works just as good as one using an air compressor. June 28, 2016
