HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE CABLE FROM THE DRUM?

I purchased 2 of these machines the day they arrived in my store. All excited to give it a test drive, but in looking it over and calling the customer service line, how do you remove the cable from the machine when you want to replace it or clean it and store it outside of the drum? Other than possibly removing the front feed bearings, how do you get the cable that has a couple of large speed bumps at the tail end completely out of the unit? Don't want to damage or ruin a brand new unit. Ryobi customer service was also stumped.
Asked by: dealbreaker
you probably would not want too. you will need to disassemble the whole tool to remove the grey drum to get to the cable.

Trying to clean French drains. Would this work for that?

Asked by: Ralls
Maybe, The sediment and roots usually found in French are probably too much for this tool. It is meant to clear soft clogs like hair and paper products in household drains.

But... after struggling with a manual drain auger and not getting very far, I broke down and purchased this one. The directions were a little vague, as I didn't know the difference between terms being used, but I looked over them, took a trial run, and got to work on the clog. (I did find the diagrams in the back that would have helped) I was very pleasantly surprised that this tool took care of the problem in very short order. I do wish I'd given up sooner and headed to the store. It was definitely worth it, and I'm sure I saved a lot by being able to do this myself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little devic Bought this to replace my hand auger. Worked great! Had clog cleared in 5 minutes. Instructions caused some confusion. Instructions kept referring to page 9 for overview diagram. There was no page 9. Finally found the overview diagram explaining the different parts. That's the only reason I rated this 4 stars. Would have been 5 stars otherwise. Auto feed is awesome,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doubted the purchase at first..... I purchased the ryobi dual inflator/deflator and it broke first use so I was hesitant about purchasing anything other than a standard drill/cutting tool. I had a sink and tub that were slow draining so I thought for the money, why not.... Well, for the money, it is worth it and then some. You better have some strong hand grip to use this tool for an extended length of time but it is worth it. I think the auto feed is a bit slow as I have used rental units that were much faster but you get what you pay for and I am VERY satisfied with this purchase. I have used it several times and if it broke tomorrow, I still would be a happy camper with the purchase.

Did the trick but BOY were my arms tired by the end. Had a bit of a blockage in my laundry room today (semi common occurrence in my house) and saw this product and thought I would give it a try. WOW. Worked like a charm! Ran this through the laundry room and 2 bathroom sinks in the time it would have taken me to extend my old manual auger (yes, just extend, not extend and retract!) through one drain. Easy to use, one button operation (yay no more cranking), no wires. 5 stars from this DIYer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I am a Facilities Manager for multiple commercial buildings and clogged drains are a normal thing In my daily tasks. This has been a time saving life saver. The drill powered ones our just not made with a strong enough cable and the cutter bit is normally to large for smaller hand sinks. This product has fit into 3/4 inch pipes and 2 inch pipes and has had no issues. Just like most other augers and snakes, it does have issues getting through the traps of urinals but that is expected.

I was able to use this with basically one arm as I had broken my humerus (upper arm) 4 wks earlier. After 5 mins the clog (solid grease) was cleared! The auto feed and return features worked excellent as these were detrimental due to my injury. I can only imagine that using it with both arms would be even easier. Some ryobi products are great and this is one of them.

After trying numerous gadgets and techniques to try to unclog a difficult kitchen drain, I went and purchased the Ryobi One plus drain auger. It worked like a charm. As I began to engage the auger, it went down the drain smoothly until it hit the clog. After a few seconds of continuous engagement of the trigger, it broke through the clog and smooth sailing from their. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has a clog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holy Cow!!!!!! Best $80 ever spent!. After reading all the reviews, I said to myself, that it couldn't work that good. My clog is different than everyone else's clog. This will never work on my clog because my problem is always different than everyone else's. Well was I ever wrong! within 10 minutes, drain was running better than it ever has before. My clog was past the P-Trap and still had no problem clearing it.
