Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Kevin Hardly even sturdy enough for light duty. Third one of these I've gotten in less than a year. Luckily, it's been a warranty issue, and I have received replacements free. First one just totally crapped out in about 4 months. Second one, the inflator for things like air mattresses and beach balls worked fine, but the tire inflator quit working. That was after only about 3 months. Wouldn't have gotten another one of these if I didn't have a bunch of other Ryobi tools. Would have bought a Rigid, if they'd had one... The one thing that I do like about it is that it is digital, and you can set it and walk away while it pumps up your tire, providing your battery has enough juice in it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by gfb500 Nice Tool!
Chose this because it works with my Ryobi tool kit and it has a suction/deflate feature. Also likes that has a place to store the different tips for the inflator. Had to work a little to figure out the steps for setting the inflation level. Also, I had to set the inflation level about a 1 lb. more to get what felt like a full basketball. This unit was about twice as much as a plug-in inflator, but being portable and the other features makes it a good value. Especially if you already have the Ryobi One system.

I used this compressor to fill tires on 2 cars and a motorhome. Highest pressure used was the motorhome at 60 psi. I found I had to set the pressure up a pound or two to get the right pressure on my gauge but that was not a problem to me. The problem was after less than a year of use it quit working. I was trying to top off my motorhome tires when the cold weather brought the pressure down while on a trip. However the compressor would not work as it thought the pressure was 109 psi ! There is no way to over ride the auto pressure feature on the compressor so the compressor was useless. It read 109 psi just sitting unconnected. Thank goodness I took my 7 year old Walmart compressor as a backup, not as fast but got the job done.

This inflator is one of the best Ryobi tool purchases that I've made yet. I had a couple vehicles on my property that had tires that need to be inflated and didn't have a portable air compressor to get to them. I made this purchase hoping that this inflator would do the trick and was very impressed. You set the the digital read out to the pressure you want, say 35 lbs., the inflator puts 36 lbs. of pressure in compensating for you removing the tool and losing a little pressure. Great design and good job thinking ahead. Thanks Ryobi.

I use this for camping and cycling. Works great for bike and vehicle tires, along with air mattresses. And being battery powered it can go anywhere. Large and small 18V batteries both fit with no problem.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DIYaloha "cutting edge" inflator?
It may seem contradictory that I give this tool a “good” rating but don’t recommend it (as it is). This inflator-deflator does what I wanted it do: inflate a car tire. The big minus: the valve clamp on the inflator hose is secured by a screw that may have been cut to fit the clamp, causing an exposed sharp end of the screw which in turn can cause a laceration to the finger of someone removing the after the tire is inflated (as happened with me). The clamp fits very tightly to the valve, and it takes more than one tug to remove the hose. The natural grip on the clamp to remove it from the valve brings the user’s forefinger against the sharp end of the screw end. A cap nut on the end of the screw, or simply using a machined screw of the proper size might have alleviated this small but significant hazard (because the user will always be tugging on the clamp to remove the hose). I remedied the situation by filing down the end of the screw and also wrapping the entire screw with electrical tape (see picture). Being able to use a battery gives the user freedom to position the inflator as needed to inflate a tire, rather than be constrained by a cord (whether AC or DC). Of course, the user still has to make sure the battery is fully charged (or a spare is available) because the battery would need a charger (which would need an AC outlet) if it needs to be recharged. With the inflator, I was able to add a couple pounds of air to a car tire in about a couple of minutes. The included digital pressure gauge appears to be accurate when compared to a conventional stick pressure gauge. The instructions included with the inflator advises users to stand away when the inflator is attached and in operation, and to observe the pressure gauge readout as the tire is inflated. The digital readout is fairly small, however (the window is probably less than a half-inch and the digits would be smaller, perhaps 3/8 of an inch or smaller) so how far you can stand away may depend on your eyesight. Rocker switches on either side of the readout turn on and off the inflator or deflator (one side is for low-pressure inflatables and the other side is for high-pressure inflatables like tires). The design puts the battery directly on the bottom of the unit, with a handle on the top and hoses on two ends (one side for low-pressure and the other hose for high pressure), with the readout in the middle. The design gives this unit good balance and stability. I only hope that Ryobi will fix the screw problem, and also make the high-pressure inflator hose easier to detach.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dkeith45 Great inflator
Purchased this model after returning the smaller inflator. The smaller inflator is not really suited to car tires. This model though, is perfect for that use. I have a tire on my truck with an odd leak. Days will pass with no air loss, then one morning the tire will be flat. This inflator takes my tire from 0 to 35 psi in 10 min. You can preset the pressure you want to reach, and it will run automatically and stop automatically when it reaches the desired pressure. This is especially nice in cold weather where you can sit in your car while the unit does its thing. If you watch it closely though, you'll notice it seems to go over the setting you input by 1psi but that's just to compensate for the generating pressure. Once it turns itself off, you'll see on the LED gage that your tire will actually be the pressure you wanted.
