Customer Questions & Answers

WILL THE RYOBI ONE + BATTERIES WORK WITH THIS IMPACT WRENCH?

Asked by: dustydog1
If it is the Ryobi impact wrench, 18 volts, it will work. I purchased an impact wrench and tried it one time. It removed a wheel lug that I was not able to do it manually with the wrench that comes with the car.

Would this impact gun be able to place and replace lug nuts from a car

Asked by: Eliu
Yes, we use one on our circle track dirt cars. It removes the large nuts from the racing studs pretty easily. I would be careful about using it to tighten standard auto lug nuts as it can and will strip them. We change 2-3 tires on our car and 1-2 on friends cars EVERY Saturday night. It's been working for almost 2 years. It's good enough that I bought another one for home shop and it has become one of my most used Ryobi tools. You will really appreciate it in the heat of the summer when your tractor is broken down in the middle of a field 1/2 mile from power!

What is the difference between an impact wrench and a impact driver?

Asked by: Becki
An impact driver is used for screws typically, impact wrench is for large, more difficult fasteners (think automotive)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprised Me! I am an air tool user and i was very reluctant to think this would take a wheel nut off. I already have 2 batteries from other tools, so that is a bonus. I tried it on my van and holy moly it worked as good if not better than my air gun!! It also put them on good and tight. I was very surprised that a tool this small packs such a punch. The only downside would be if you had no other tools with these batteries it would be expensive to get started. I would have give it 5 stars if it had a battery with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely junk I bought mine roughly a year ago for use in building demolition derby cars it's ok for removing small bolts when it does work and it will remove lug nuts as long as you break them loose with a breaker bar first and spray the studs with penatrating oil I can almost install one lug nut before it quits then I have to take out the battery and reinsert it for the impact to work again about the third time going through this I get aggravated and just use a lug wrench I tried several times to resolve the issue but I was told in the end it was my fault for misuse of the tool that what I was using it for wasn't it's intended purpose and that there wasn't nothing that could be done so lessons learned on my part I guess I am no longer a ryobi customer I have ordered the Milwaukee fuel impact I hope this Is a better tool

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased to use with my rock crawling Jeep. I had seen some reviews saying that this impact would not remove even 55 ft lb torqued lug nuts. I tested it at the store and felt it would do the job. I got it home and CHARGED the battery, after which I tried it on my Jeep, I keep the steel wheels on my Jeep torqued to 110 ft lbs (with a torque wrench), and it took all four of them off without any hesitation at all. I rotated all 4 tires ( had to loosen and then retorque, torque was too high), then took the wheels off of my wife's Honda to change the brakes, removed and reinstalled all 4 tires without any hesitation at all. That makes a total of 8 tires removed and replaced on one charge and no problems at all with the amount of torque

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Ryobi 1/2" drive doesn't cut it! 300ft-lbs? Where to do they get that number? It struggled to loosen a nut precisely torqued to 100 ft-lbs. Far too long as it rattled away labouring to get it off. You don't buy a 1/2" drive impact for wood screws so you can ignore most of these reviews. A smaller 1/4" hex chuck impact will do nicely for those applications. I took this Ryobi back. It doesn't cut it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bargain if you already have One+ batteries and charger!!!! 90 lb/ft lug nuts on the car took 1 second and 150 lb/ft lugnuts on the new F150 took 2-3 seconds. Already own some One+ stuff from over the last 10 years and figured for $100 I would return it if it did not do what I needed. More compact in my hand than I expected too - not much bigger than their 1/4 impact driver! Just heavier due to the bigger hammer in the nose. Already better than I expected and a cheap way to dip my toe in the water about wanting cordless and electric to replace needing a big new air compressor in my home shop. Very satisfied with my new purchase - hopefully it holds up to hobbyist automotive use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value but chuck is garbage..BUT there is a replacement!!! I agree with others that the tool is a greaqt value but does have a fatal flaw. The 1/2" to 1/4 hex coupler is junk and will break if you use this tool to screw with. But I have found a wonderful replacemnet by Dewalt that does the job and is even better. DEWALT DW2298 1 2-Inch Square Anvil to 1 4-Inch Hex and its even made for impact tools. Its $7 and can be found online or most home improvement stores. Hope this helps, Brian
