Where do I start? This radio exceeded my expectations. I love the portability of it, the ruggedness of it and most of all, I love the fact that it uses the same batteries that the rest of my Ryobi tools use! The fact that a battery lasts over 8 hours doesn't hurt either!
If there's a "downside" to this, it's that I wish it was a "stereo" radio instead of a "mono" one...
Great product Ryobi!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mirda One little glitch.
I have purchased this cute little radio a week ago. After inserting the batteries radio did not power up pushing the ON button. Went to the store and exchange it for another one. The same thing happened again and before one more trip to HomeDepot, I tried to figure out what could be wrong. When I checked the gauge button on the green battery (P107) and than pushed the power ON button the radio came to life. Tried ON and OFF several times and radio always powered up. When I left the radio in the OFF position for about 5 minutes the radio was dead again. I repeated this test several times and always with the same result. You just have to push the battery gauge button first to make the radio work. Than I tried P102 battery (there is no gauge button to trigger the ON) and the radio worked fine at all times and still does as I write this comment. On the bottom line that means, the radio doesn't like the green batteries and the previous radio I returned was more likely also O.K.
I would suggest that HomeDepot put a sticker on each package of the radio, that says - won't run on P107 and P108. That saves customers time, disappointment and Ryobi's reputation. The radio is great and got 5 stars from me.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JayDubya Great radio, poor job site clock
Have had mine for a few years now & it's still going great but I thought I should inform Ryobi & others of the issues I have with it.
1) It's mono (of course) but if you play a familiar stereo tune, you'll notice one of the channels is missing.
2) The clock- I work on job sites where there no clock at all but the one on my radio. Aux input shows the time but if the radio's on, the display shows the station you're listening to and to see the time, you have to walk over to it & hit the clock button. Kind of inconvenient. I know what station I'm listening to- I chose it, listen to it all day & they even tell me who they are every 30 minutes or so, but I'd rather see the time as a default.
I've read complaints about scrolling thru the presets. There's only 10 so it's not that big a deal but going up AND DOWN the order would be nice.
It's passed the 3'+ drop test on multiple occasions, been sprayed with paint and adhesives and cleaned up OK. A pretty durable unit and if they resolved the clock issue in the next edition, I'd get another one, ASAP.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hpiguy Finally, Ryobi Radio with AM
I use this in my garage three to four times per week and am very happy. Plenty loud and easy to use with gloves on.
I never bothered to buy the older Ryobi radio style because it was FM only. The minute I saw this radio with AM (gotta hear those baseball games!) I grabbed it.
It's easy to set the presets and picks up a good number of stations on both bands.
I give it a four because the weaker stations that my truck picks up fine this radio will not receive. Other than that, it's top notch. Durable and runs forever on the basic Nicad One+ pack.

I own a P741 AM/FM radio which I keep in my shop. It's plenty loud enough and reception is clear. It runs hours on end on a single P103 battery charge, and the low battery indicator lets me know when it's time to recharge before the battery is dead. I like that Ryobi improved upon the P740 by adding the AM band.
I also own this model's predecessor, the P740, and I thought I'd be really happy with the new digital controls and presets. But to be honest, after using both for some time now I'd have to say that I prefer the dead-simple controls on the older P740.
When Ryobi releases the next model, maybe we could move back to P740-style controls and just add AM to the selector switch? If we must keep the digital controls, then how about adding separate buttons for station presets? The current design does work, but separate presets would be much faster/easier to use.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by bainf battery drains when turned off
This was part of a ryobi kit otherwise I would not have bought it. But so glad I did, whenever I am working now I pull it out. So the concept of a 18v battery operated radio is great, but execution is average.
Reception is average
Could be louder, clearer
The elastic on the back does not hold my phone which I use as an MP3 player, It is designed for "belt clips", who has those.
One last , but very important thing, this lasts many hours, maybe more than 6, but it drains the battery quicker off than on. I have to pull the battery out when I turn it off or store it, which is shame as it is my most used tool and would like it to be always ready

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Em2F This is one great little radio to have
As I said, this is one handy little radio to have. It's small and not to heavy so you can take it just about anywhere you go including camping and hiking. The battery lasts about 3 days of usage figuring you only use it about 8 hrs a day. Radio has good reception even at the bottom of the ozark mountains where I was camping this weekend and the speaker is pretty loud yet clear sounding for it size. I recommend this for everyone.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by John Love this radio!
I bought this radio about 3 mos. ago, and I love it! Reception is very good, volume is loud at max settings, sound quality is pretty good too! I have 1 minor gripe that the radio uses 2 AAA or 2 AA batteries.......These are used for the Radio pre-sets. Yes this radio has a digital tuner. Battery life is very good. I use a nicad battery on this radio. You also can hook up a mp3 player or a cell phone and play mp3 thru it. I even use it on the job and around the house. Highly recommended!
