This is only sold as a standalone add-on tool. I don't think you could justify buying this if you are not already using other tools that take the same battery.

Sadly no. this tool is a great deal on its own. I myself have one and while some guys look at it as "novelty" it really saves the wrist from being worn out at the end of the day. with a p103/p102 battery its almost as light a my all Metal hand crank gun.

I have looked at the owner's manual and they talk about everything but how to do this. I must be missing something. How do I insert the caulking tube? I know I have to slice at 45 degree angle. But do I have to release that medal rod, or pull it back?
Thank you,.

Hi Elmac511. The instructions are under the loading caulk section in the owner's manual. Here is how: OPERATION

Hi Elmac511. The instructions are under the loading caulk section in the owner's manual. Here is how: OPERATION
LOADING CAULK
See Figures 3 - 4, page 9.
 Lock the switch trigger by sliding the switch lock up.
 Using a utility knife, cut off the tip of the spout on a standard 10 oz. tube of caulk. Cut the tip at a 45˚ angle. Remove as little as possible, taking into consideration the size of the “bead” of caulk you need.
 Check for a second inner seal at the base of the spout. If found, insert the puncture tool inside the spout to break the seal before using. If using a partially filled tube, use the puncture tool to remove any hardened material from the tip.
NOTE: An inner seal is usually found only in cardboard caulk tubes.
 While holding the caulk gun steady with one hand, pull the handle of the plunger rod away from the caulk gun. Continue pulling until plunger base reaches the back of the carriage frame.
 Load the caulk tube into the carriage frame, making sure it is well seated at both ends. Hope this helps!

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This Caulking Gun Rocks! Had a large job requiring 20 tubes of caulking. There was a lot of ladder work involved but with this gun & I was able to complete the work in a single day. The variable speed gun allowed me to adjust it in some very difficult situations to a rate at which I could actually draw the bead evenly. Once the trigger is released the gun automatically backs off the pressure to the tube. To begin caulking again I simply pushed the feed rod forward and then squeezed the trigger so that pressure was instantly resumed. If you don't do this you will have to wait a few seconds for the gun to go into action which can make for an awkward start on the bead. Did the whole job with one battery. January 7, 2009
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product with a few flaws This is a good product that meets the needs of those who use a caulk gun often. The cordless feature means you can go anywhere with it, and swap batteries at will. The trigger is soft compared to manual caulk guns that wear you out. The flaws are only 2 and minor. The first if the weight and size of the gun can tire your arm if you have a lot of caulking to do, and the second is the wait time between each trigger pull for the caulk to exit the gun. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi cordless caulking gun I bought this item for my painter husband. He finds it saves a lot of time and effort and is easy to use. You get an even stream and there is less waste from leakage. November 19, 2008
