This is the first impact driver I have ever used and I like! I've always used a drill to drive screws but since getting this driver (as part of combo set) I use the drill to drill and the driver to drive - as the Universe should be.
Haven't done too many long screws or bolts yet but I have been impressed with what I've seen so far. At first the vibration threw me a bit, thinking I was stripping the screw head.
With the battery in place the tool is very nicely balanced.
The only thing I've noticed that I don't care for is that the bit seems to have a bit of play in-and-out. Otherwise the bit is quite secure.

Bought my first home, an old century home and discovered it takes a lot of upkeep. I have a Ryobi 18v drill but was having a lot of difficulties driving screws even when I drilled pilot holes. I went to my local HD Store and the associate recommended the impact drill. Took it home and was driving 3 inch screws with ease, drove lag bolts like a hot knife through butter, screwed down a subfloor with no trouble. I love this drill. Lightweight, feels good in the hand, minimal vibration, and I could use my One+ batteries with no problems. I also love the fact that I could upgrade to a Lithium battery without having to buy a new driver. Thx Ryobi! You can't go wrong with this impact driver!

I own a Ryobi 18 volt drill. I've seen impact drivers used on tv and wondered what the hype about them was. All other brands are over $200. When I saw the Ryobi I decided to take a chance. I already had batteries.
If your going to drive alot of screws especially longer ones, this is the only way to go. I only use my drill to drill now not drive. You never have to worry about that last 1/4 of the screw not being driven in. You have to worry about over reaming the screw. I use Ryobi tools for what they are,
an affordable tool for the home DIYer. I'm sure Rigid and Dewalt's impact drivers perform better if I was a contractor. For home use you can't beat the Ryobi for the price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mostle66 Useful tool--Great price
Used this to build a large deck and other miscellaneous jobs. Great for driving lots of screws, although I found the bit often slipped out of even robertson screw heads--this was solved by buying impact-driver bits (diamond-coated), but perhaps high-quality regular steel would be fine too. Lots of power for driving lags as well.
Only minor complaints--the bit holder will not hang on to the socket adapter bit, making it easy to lose. And the LED is a nice idea, but really you need it to find the screw head, not once you are already driving. Battery life is respectable but not outstanding.

I own over twenty cordless drills because it's cheaper to buy a kit with two batteries than just the batteries alone. Most are Makita, but I have Dewalt, Porter Cable and a few of these Ryobi drills including this impact driver. I am hard on these tools and use them almost every day. I have worked as an Electrician for over 25 years and this is by far the best drill for the money I have ever owned. It has been dropped, rained and snowed on and left out in the cold and heat but it still keeps on delivering for me. Highly recommend this product for value.

This impact driver provides plenty of power for screwing as well as bolt removal. The battery life is fantastic. It's also very light and balanced in the hand.
I'm a weekend warrior and this tool gets used the most. Whether it be wood, or the motorcycle, it just works great.

I'm an amateur DIY - i mostly screw things (up) haha, very little in the way of drilling. My previous drill was a 12V Ryobi that did okay, but the charger actually broke.
Anyway, despite having to fork out another 70$ for 2 batteries and a charger, this is so powerful yet lightweight, it's hard not to like it.
I have a wood deck in my future, not to mention some new fencing, so I'm excited to put it to some hard work!

i bought this impact driver a couple days after xmas, i had a couple other impact drivers. i have used this tool on a daily basis sense i bought it and has never given me any trouble and works great and the battery last alot longer then any of the other impacts drivers did. and the bits next to never slipped off the screw therefore not stripping them, i would recommand this tool to any beginner or pro.
