I bough this drill in May of this year while doing a remodel on my house.I would consider this to be the best drill I have ever owned. It has really been put to the test drilling many multiple holes using a 3/4 in spade bit upto and including a 4 1/2 inch hole saw.Using a paddle it has mixed a 5 gal bucket of concrete. But the biggest test has been falling 8 ft to the concrete floor, not once, but twice with only scratches to the case.I am still using this drill and impressed with the fine speed control, and the torque it has.I just purchased a set of the Ryobi One+ tools that were on sale for Black Friday and am eagerly awating their arrival.

I cant say enough good things about the Ryobi One+ system. This drill is another high quality example of a great tool. Think about it: Home Depot wants to sell you tools, and knows that as long as these tools work great and last, that you will continue buying building materials. of course there going to do their very best to provide a quality tool to everyone they can.

Have only used for approximately 30 days, but it has been great. It replaced an old second hand Ryobi. This is much lighter and is easier to handle.

I bought this drill on the basis of overall good reviews. Perhaps I'd have the same trouble with any drill with a keyless chuck, since this is the first one I have had, but I have a hard time getting it tightened enough such that it doesn't loosen up while I'm using it. Very frustrating. I like the 1/2 inch chuck which is veraitile and the storage bag and the weight of it- just a bit heavy for overhead work though. I also wish I had thought of future needs and looked at the whole array of Ryobi battery operated tools because now i need a circular saw and the Ryobi battery operated saw is very small.

I ordered this drill on-ine as local stores had no 'bare tools. (without battery) I found that I could have bought the drill with battery at approx. the same price. When I received it , the box it came in was damaged and open on one end. Since all parts seemed to be there I proceeded to use it. I drilled four holes in wood-no problem. I tried to put screws into something and found that it had reversed and the switch to go forward was jammed. I brought it to the local store where an employee was able to fix it by continuously pushing the switch until it went into place. I'm hoping it stays 'fixed'.

I have used this drill for commerical work, out last and out preformed all the others, the current one I have is the old Blue one, over 100k screws, I worked for airstream for a while and drilled and screwed thousands of rivits and screws. Now Installing Chemical units on concreate walls and still strong, will have to buy a new one soon as the chuck is worn and wont hold a 3/32 bit any more. Outstanding EQ. Even used the back of the drill as a hammer for wall anchors!

Price:performance is excellent. Unbelievably powerful for a cordless drill. It's got a 1/2" chuck! It's high end RPM (and torque at high RPMs) is better than any other cordless that I've owned. Autoshift saves time. Magnetic tray a nice afterthought, with a caveat (see below).
It's also the heaviest cordless drill I've owned. (Using the smaller Li-ion battery helps offset that.) And as others have said, the trigger isn't very sensitive, so it's not easy to control slow RPMs. Magnetic tray is a little weak, so it doesn't hold more than one bit very well. No LED for illuminating work area.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Papa Good tool but takes getting used to it.
It takes a little getting used to. It is heavier than the standard drill. The self adjusting tork and speed work well. Made drilling holes in 2x4s easy. The tork sensor is not fine enough for some applications. When installing 4 inch lag bolts one setting stopped before the bolt was fully driven into the wood. The next setting caused some of the bolts to break as too much tork was applied. The speed control on the trigger requires a fair amount of pressure and then it takes off. The old drill had finer control. Overall it is working out as a good replacement for the 8 year old drill that died.
