I had the unit out of the box and running in about 10 minutes. The purpose for getting it was to run a large electric chainsaw that I use on my 10 acre property. I wanted a setup that wouldn't disturb the wildlife or the neighbors. My daughter laughed when it fired up for the first time, shocked that it was so quite. The 4hp electric chainsaw is louder than the generator at full throttle! Generator fits well on an ATV and is light enough to lift into my truck. Excellent unit at a reasonable price. Can sink up with another unit giving twice the power for the price of a single comparable Honda.

What a great addition to my north woods tools!
Out of the box it was easy to set up and get running and has been exceeding all my expectations.
Recently I needed to relocate my travel trailer (I call it my hunting shack, my wife calls it the mouse hotel) and needed to construct a semi-permanent roof to prevent leaking. The Riobi not only powered the saws I used to build the roof frame but it easily managed the operation of my heat gun I used to shrink wrap the poly cover for the roof.
Now that the work is complete the generator is used to keep my trailer batteries fully charged and gives me the confidence that I can safely charge my personal electronics (lap top for work, cell phone and electronic book).
This is a great tool and good value for the money!

This product was purchased to run a 6200-8000BTU AC window unit. It does great as long as you leave the auto idle off until the compressor kicks in. After settling down, you can turn the economy button on(auto idle) and this unit will run for 5-5.5 hrs. on .5 gal. of gasoline. I would recommend using alcohol free 93 octane gasoline if you can find. (NOTE: if the compressor kicks off then comes back on, the generator will not start the compressor motor once switched to economy mode, this is not a design flaw, just the motor cant rev. up fast enough from a near idle speed to generate the near triple wattage required to start the compressor. When the auto idle if off this is a non-issue.)

I purchased this unit a few months back and after reading current negative reviews, I took the challenge. I started my unit for the first time today. After oil and gas filling, it took about nine easy pulls and voila! I added an extension cord with a multiple outlet strip including a TV, TV decoder, room air fan, another room fan, an electric clock, and a water kettle. This unit perked up with the use of water kettle; but after the water boiled, the unit calmed right down and continued to run all of those other appliances at a super quiet steady pace.

I just bought this inverter generator to field charge battery packs for large electric R/C helicopters. I will also use it for any power outages we may have around the house or if we go camping/RVing again.
First day with it has been pleasant. Only real knock I have is it would have been nice to have a center lift handle on it in addition to the two side handles and the cleaver suite case style handle. Also the cheap paper oil funnel they included. For a few more pennies a reusable plastic funnel would have been nice.
Started up after the expected 8-10 pulls for the initial start. I ran a halogen worklight on it as a load with my kill-a-watt meter and it showed very steady 60 cycle/121V output. Very quiet even under that moderate load. I performed this test with the idle down switch (economy mode) enabled. Even with the idle down switch disabled it's very reasonable noise level. I can't compare it to other brands since this is my first portable generator but I did research the options a lot. We had a very active discussion on a popular RC heli forum, most were of the opinion that the best generators are either red or blue (brands are obvious by their color if you research them). I'm stepping out of the fold a bit and getting this one for a few reasons. One of the primary reasons is the 3 yr; warranty backed by The Home Depot.
I will try to get back here and report additional usage once I've had some field experience charging my 5AH/50V LiPo packs.
for a bigger load I would use a 12/3 outdoor rated extension

I bought this generator in October and used it once for a couple hours. I noticed it was leaking, so I took it back to the store. They returned it and ordered a new unit to be shipped. The new unit was used a few hours and I was pleased with it. A few weeks later, I noticed it had leaked a lot of oil in my storage shed. I took it back for repair. They kept it over a month and returned it to me still leaking. I sent it back for repair and they replaced it. I am on my third unit at this point. I added oil per the instructions, but didn't add fuel. A day later, there are puddles of oil under the unit.
I have never seen a product that has been so consistently bad.

I wanted an inexpensive generator that would keep our sump pump running. I wasn't sure given that a 1/2 hp sump startup current was at this products limit. I just did a test run and other than some initial overload led flickering it settled down and ran the pump fine. The value of this unit is great.

95% as good as my Honda EU2000 for 55% of the price. It is quiet and I like the wheels. Not sure if it will last as long as the Honda. Only time will tell but I sure like it.
