Forget the negative reviews. I purchased this sander because my ex was living with me with her daughter who wanted spatter painted walls in her room. Upon our seperation, i need to sand down the walls before i could repaint as the spatter created raised surfaces. I didnt want to spend a ton of money for this job so i took a gamble and purchased this Ryobi. The paper clamps are not difficult if you have higher than a 3rd grade education. It took less than 5 seconds to figure it out and about the same to secure the paper. The unit ran for well over an hour with just a short break or two to change the paper. This unit performed like a pro and made quick work of these walls. I would highly recommended this sander to anyone looking to do a job on a budget.

I have always been very satisfied with everything I've purchased from Home Depot. However, even though this sander works fine and serves the purpose I bought it for, I was disappointed to find that it had been used prior to my purchase. The tool was dirty and had saw dust in the collection bag when I opened what was supposed to be a brand new tool. Someone had either used it, then returned it, or it had been used in the store and placed back on the rack and sold as new. Thankfully, the sander works without problems. I have learned from this experience. I will be sure the next time to check the box for factory seals from now on.

Unhappy about instructions. It said to use 1/4 sheet. What size is 1/4 sheet? When I went to buy additional sheets all they had was 4x4 so I bought them. Turns out they were 1/2 inch to short. Then I find out they were adhesive so took off the backing. It worked great but when I tried to peel it off the rubber started to come off the bottom of the sander.

I purchased this sander because of the square sanding area. It allows me to get into corners that my round faced sander will not. I purchased "peel and stick" sanding paper. It sticks but it doesn't peel off easily at all. I am hoping that using a heat gun will release the glue. The instruction mention removing the paper after sanding while the paper is still warm. This hasn't worked too well. Over-all a quiet and efficient tool.

After 20 hours the bearing between the pad and the motor disintegrated. They should send me a new bearing no charge. Then we could go to 5 stars. Cheap parts, cheap price...

It will not keep the sandpaper clipped down. Tears the sandpaper especially if you have a low grit sandpaper. Have gone through tons of sandpaper that is perfectly usable. Big was of time. Sand paper has torn off and tore up the pad underneath. Would have expected this from a $9.00 sander. Next time save your money and get a $9.00 sander.
