2-Cycle 26 cc Curved Shaft Gas Trimmer is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 124.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Powerful but hard to start Takes about a dozen pulls to start. Once its running, it'll cut just about anything. The nice thing is its the expand it model. However, I wouldnt buy another one. Not worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Recommended I have had this trimmer for 3 years. We purchased it on Sale from Home Depot. From day one, it has leaked fuel/oil mixture and when in storage I have to drain the fuel out to prevent it making a mess. To make matters worse, this trimmer has never started easily and usually resulted in us just getting frustrated and using our electric trimmer! After 3 years of very seldom use, it finally seized up. I took it apart to see what was the matter, and found the piston rings(2) had broken and badly damaged the cylinder liner. The quality of this trimmer is dismal, but then again, for the price - what do could you expect. I suggest you save your money and buy a pro unit if you really want a gas powered trimmer. Otherwise, just stick with a low cost electric unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine for me! Sounds like a lot of people have had problems with starting this trimmer. I just bought it over the weekend, and used it 3 different times already. I wonder if these people actually followed the specific instructions for the first-time start?? I followed them, and it started right up, and ran just fine---no stalling at all, and started fine each time I used it. This is my first gas trimmer, and it is quite loud, but that's just something I'll have to get used to I suppose. I am excited about purchasing the attachments for this trimmer also--will be getting the blower, and edger attachments soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great if you can READ! I was a little hesitant to purchase this item after reading all the other negative reviews about it. In the end, my wallet won out and it came home with me along with an edging attachment. I followed the (very simple) instructions on assembly, and my first indication it was done right was that it looked just like the picture on the box! After adding the appropriately ratio-ed fuel mixture, I again followed the (very simple) instructions on the unit to start, and BAM! started like a champ on first pull! When it comes to power, guys...let's be honest, if you want professional grade, buy professional grade. I didn't go out looking to spend $300.00 on a trimmer, and I got more than what I expected for what I paid for. After a year's worth of use so far, this unit hasn't failed to keep up with trimming my 1 acre property. Did it spew smoke when I first started it? Yes, but the manual said it would. Does it rip through the line? Yes, but I'm also trimming against fencing and concrete a lot. Does it start on the first or second pull? Everytime, without fail. What about the attachment? Imagine my shock when it performed well when attached per manufacturer's guidelines! Great unit for the price, I'll purchase another Ryobi anytime.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad... We bought this trimmer for our quarter acre lot with the hope of trimming the edges where the lawn mower would not reach. Until today, every time I tried using it, I could not get it to run properly. I could get it to start and idle without the choke being on...eventually. However, as soon as I would hit the gas, it would die. We wanted to return it but we lost the receipt. So it sat in our garage collecting dust. Annoyed that I couldn't use that piece of junk I decided to try to get it to work. Looking around online I saw references to people having similar problems with the same engine. Turns out there are three screws that needed adjustment. There is the idle screw, which controls the speed of the idle, the low (L) screw which controls the mixture at idle, and high (H) which controls the mixture at full throttle. Annoyingly, the screws for L and H require a special tool that is typically only found at repair shops. I simply took my multitool (similar to Dremel) and, with the metal bit, cut notches for the L and H screws so that I could use a small standard screwdriver to make the adjustments. From the store my idle was too low and the (H) mixture was way too rich. Once I made the changes, this thing rocks!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy I've owned this trimmer for about 1 year and a half now. A few months ago it started having issues running. Turns out the primer bulb was cracked so I bought a new one. (I've never seen primer bulb go bad after a year of light use and proper storage.) After that repair it ran fine. Now I have a hard time starting it and keeping it running. The cover from the trimming head also falls off randomly when trying to start the trimmer. Long story short, its a shoddy product. I have experience with Echo, Homelite, Weed Eater and John Deere trimmers and I've never had this much trouble with a trimmer. If you want a good trimmer, stay away from Ryobi. Spend the money on an Echo or a Honda. It'll cost more upfront, but their quality is unmatched.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Trimmer is Garbage. It has been almost impossible to start since the purchase last spring. Now it won't start at all. I've owned numerous trimmers over the years and this is by far the worst.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Buy It Over the last ten years I’ve owned two of these and the performance, for the most part, have been acceptable. This is totally different. The fact that the instructions start out by saying that if the trimmer does not start after the first four pulls, move the lever and try six more times. I have never started the trimmer with less than ten pulls. When it does start, it is difficult to keep running. The gas container won’t allow me to compete half my yard without refilling it. Finally, after three uses, the clutch went out and had to be replaced (evidentially, a common occurrence). It’s unfortunate, Ryobi use to make a good yard product. This trimmer is not worth the hassle.
