its not going increase range to add a longer wire.
You could add a wifi repeater near the opener to help with range.

2 HP Ultra-Quiet Garage Door Opener is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 339.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Customer told me it does everything he wanted it to do. I said," Did you want it to open your 60 year old wood door?" I'm a installer with 20 years + experience You sell a belt to be quite but why would you have an alarm sound when it closes? Why have a battery back up that doesn't charge the battery? You have all these things to plug into the opener why wouldn't you install a carbon monoxide senor and save lives? This is the slowest opener I have ever installed. It goes even slower when one of the safety reverses trip Why do the remotes only have a range of 20 feet? Why are the remotes not programmed in the box? Why is the print to small to read? Why is the safety beam terminal marked green? Why a c channel rail with plastic gear? ? ? Why is it so hard to get back in the box to take back? Snaps together, beat it apart. Who designs that? No one is going to have parts when it breaks. Why is the smart button dumb and take so long to program?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good for 8' and up doors I bought it a month a go, but I haven't been able to install it as it requires and expansion KIT thats not available in CANADA, can you believe that, I have heard good reviews but if you have a taller than 7'door dont even bother thinking about this one, without the proper parts you will get this one storage in a corner of your garage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING!! DO NOT BUY THIS GARAGE DOOR OPENER!! Not "axe grinding" here...I really wanted to like this opener. The modular accessories are a great idea, and the style and ease of installation was fine. However, it DID NOT WORK CONSISTENTLY. I bought it in Jul '16 and tolerated it for over a month. I had an older Chamberlain opener for 8 years on the door (installed when house was new) and wanted a wi-fi enabled opener so I went for this. My garage door was professionally balanced and the opener was professionally installed. Immediately it was problematic...we set the travel limits and then hit the "open" button, the door closed then the opener started chirping and wouldnt stop until i cut power. Repeated the process and it did this 5 more cycles. Then it would work for 2 days, then it wouldn't work for a week. Apparently it was getting "overloaded"??! I can open and close this door w/ my pinkie. No binding on the lift arm. etc. etc. I took it back to Home depot AND BOUGHT THE CHAMBERLAIN...THE CHAMBERLAIN WORKS PERFECT, NO ISSUES!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS RYOBI. COST ME $200 TOINSTALL AND REMOVE, WASTED $$.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simply terrible experience Simply a terrible product and terrible experience. Bought two of these for a new home and had them professionally installed. About a day after the installation the remotes stopped working...so we reprogrammed them. A few days more the wall controller stopped working for one of them. Frustrated I went to Home Depot and they sent the installer back out. Installer made some adjustments, shortened the distance between the opener and controllers, adjusted antenna and they were working again. Two more days go by and the doors will go up but not down....we finally just replaced them with a different opener. I really wanted to like these but so many problems over the three weeks we had them. HD customer service was great about getting them replaced so no issues with the HD team.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quiet opener but serious issues with Keypad and Wi I have installed 4 of these openers and have been disappointed everytime. The biggest issue I have had is with the exterior keypad. It seems to work only half of the time and is extremely confusing to program. On one of the openers it worked about 20% of the time so after talking with Ryobi they sent a new one. The Chamberlain keypads are much easier and straight forward to use. I havent had an issue with this opener closing or opening so far. The safety sensors are poorly designed and are very vulnerable to being run into or bent out of position (be careful around them). The opener is very bulky and much heavier then your typical garage door. I havent seen any of the add-on but I am sure they are neat. Stick with a Chamberlain because clearly this is a first generation opener and will have lots of issues.

I had high hopes for this thing but unfortunately, it turned out to be nothing more than a huge disappointment. I replaced a cheap old 1/2 horsepower GDO with this useless pile of nuts and bolts and not a day has passed that I didn't regret my purchase. I'm a Robotics Engineer and I've been installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining capital equipment for the Semiconductor industry for many years so, installing a simple GDO didn't pose much of a challenge. It was very straight forward. I went ahead and balanced the garage door after I removed the old GDO so total install with the removal of the old GDO and programming remotes/Home Link/upper/lower limits/wifi etc. was about 3 hours. Once installed, I found the GDO to operate nicely - it's smooth and quiet with the exception of the annoying beeping/flashing safety circus you have to put up with every time you operate it. In all honestly, I highly doubt this has anywhere near the claimed 2HP - the old 1/2 HP GDO was actually quicker than this one both opening and closing by 5 seconds each way. But, all seemed well and good.....until the next day As it turns out, it only operates nicely if you're standing inside the garage at night and you don't use the remotes, the outdoor keypad, or the mobile app. The remotes have practically zero range - I can literally sit right outside of my garage door and I'm already out of range. And I can't even close my garage door when the sun is shining in to the garage because the sunlight causes interference with the safety sensors, which means you can't close the door without holding the button on the wall mounted keypad until the door is completely closed. I live in Arizona and I have a South facing garage. So, basically, I can only use my spiffy new GDO at night. How awesome is that???? And then there is the mobile app which is also a complete disaster. It works for an hour, then it doesn't work for 10, then it starts working again for a few minutes, then it won't work for a few days. At this point it doesn't work at all. It gets to the screen where it says "Loading GDO's" and that's it. It won't respond in any way shape or form. I can't log out, can't log in, can't program the wifi - nada. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it several times, I've unplugged the GDO and reprogrammed it, but the app is about as useful as a diet crew cut. I ended up soldering on an short extension to the antenna, and with a few trials and errors, I fixed the range issue - now I can actually open my garage door from several feet away, as long as it's at night. A quick call to Ryobi's customer service center and they sent out some hoods for the sensors, which basically look nice but do nothing to solve the interference issue. The only way I can operate my GDO during the day is if I place a huge box right in the center of the garage door which casts a shadow in the center of the of beam path for the sensors - then it works! So the hoods are completely useless - the actual sensors themselves are the problem. I even moved the sensors beyond the GDO and mounted them directly to the walls about 8" from the rails and it had no effect whatsoever. The end result is that I've spent a significant amount of money on a completely useless pile of garbage. I purchased the fan, the cord reel, and the bluetooth speaker (which has the acoustics of a soda can, by the way) and I can only use it at night. But at least the fan works....I'm going to tear this thing out and toss it in the trash where it belongs - right next to my old GDO which, despite having stripped gears, still works better than this thing. That's it for Ryobi and Home Depot for me. This was nothing but a huge waste of time and money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super quiet and fast! I can't believe what a difference this garage door opener is over our old one. So quiet and quick and all the accessories are a bonus! We've added the retractable extension cord, blue tooth speakers, laser park assist (my favorite) and the fan so far and love all of them! I love the keypad too! The numbers are so big and easy to touch. The mobile app is a plus...can't wait to play with that next! Highly recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wish I could like this. I have worked through this product from the time I have bought it. I was one of the first to buy the product when it came out and have not had anything but problems with the opener. The sensors constantly trip even after getting the shades they sent for a fix. I made my own shades out of pipe foam, but the unit constantly trips like there is an error. I wanted to like it because it is a sharp looking item and good concept, but I have had problem after problem. I am lucky to get a few weeks before it messes up again. My wife left my garage open until I got home the other day because she could not get the unit to close. I had to use the safety release. I am left frustrated and now ready to bite the bullet and replace with a different opener.
