Was excited to get this snow blower since I have other Ryobi products that use the same battery packs. I used it for about 20 minutes and then it suddenly stopped working. It kept making a clicking sound. I looked in the manual and no mention of such sound, but open searching the internet, BOOM, tons of reviews with the dreaded clicking. In essence the machine is dead and has to either be replaced, or, "fixed" as I was told. Since I had it less than 2 days, I just returned it for a refund. There are many many instances of this same problems, so I would caution you to research before you purchase this machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Go Green and Enjoy the Ease of Use I bought the Ryobi 40 Volt Lawnmower, the 40 volt Weed Whacker and both are great products to use and enjoy. This fall before the snow I opted for the 40 Volt Snow Blower and for sure it was easy to put together and so far so good. You cannot expect it to work like a two or three stage gas snow-blower but for smaller driveways and light snowfalls it does a reasonable job. Just fold up the handle and store it until the next snowfall. I would suggest just buying the snow-blower without the double battery pack, if you have other 40 Volt Ryobi tools as well.. Just rotate your batteries between your devices..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice, but could be improved Picked this up at the beginning of Dec '14 as a portable snowblower I could fit into the back of my Jeep so I could easily move it between properties I own. On the outset, I didn't expect much from this unit. I purchased this to clear basic walkways quickly. Since I've had the unit, I've cleared whole driveways with it! I know that's not the intended use for a unit this size, but it seems to handle it ok. It WILL NOT easily clear the end of the driveway snowplow snowbank. I usually will clear the hard/clumped together stuff by shovel, and break it up in smaller chunks. Then this blower will clear it...amazingly enough. I've used this blower now for 2 months, and it is holding up....I should mention though the snow I'm clearing has not been the Heavy/Wet type...Where I live it's colder, so the snow isn't too heavy. I have no idea as of yet how this blower will do in that situation. Pro's - Lightweight, handle folds down and will fit in the back of an SUV. Can carry it with one hand.Pretty powerful, can easily throw 6-7 inches of snow over a 4 foot bank, 6 feet...more if not throwing it high. Con's - The snow chute that directs the snow while blowing it. The blower uses a metal bar type lever to actuate which direction the snow goes...the Chute it self is plastic, and the top part uses a latch type thing to keep it in position. It doesn't work. It's always either flipping too low, or coming off altogether. As well the bar that you use to change the direction is very tempermental...the chute can easily 'jump gears' and get stuck only blowing straight or to the can try to manually move the chute by hand, but it is very frustrating to 'realign' the gears to the chute lever so it works properly. The design of the snow chute is this blowers greatest flaw, and I find myself cursing this unit because of that. The person who designed it should have their diploma revoked! This is the reason I gave this 3 stars. Battery - When I bought the unit, it came with 2 batteries and a charger. Each battery can last up to 10-15 minutes. That is using it ONLY when blowing snow. I release the trigger after completing a pass so I'm not running the blower constantly doing nothing (no blowing snow). 2 Batteries is a MINIMUM to have with this...I've thought about buying another battery. Takes about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour to charge a battery, as they need to cool before they will charge. Not a replacement for a good gas blower...but good if you don't have a HUGE driveway or deck to clear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well I love the Ryobi battery powered products, already have the lawn mower and chain saw. I am happy with this too, it's lightweight and blows well. However the bar to turn the blower direction is too flimsy and didn't work after the 2nd time using. I am able to turn the head by hand, just a bother. Also the base to the edge where the snow comes in is plastic and is getting beaten up quickly, would be nice to have a metal edge there. For the amount of snow we get, I'm still happy I don't have to go out to get gas! Would still recommend .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from title Great little snow blower and my wife can use it. One wish, is that it could more easily be collapsed, so it would fit in car trunk, so I could take it to my daughter and let her use it. Jerry Kisner

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Is this winter an annomoly? Bought this blower because I have a small drive and I own the 40V mower. I live in the Northeast an the first 5 inches of snow I thought I was cool with my "enviro friendly" machine. Then came the next 55 inches and "little green" and I were both overwhelmed. I'm seriously considering a short stature, gas powered, 2 stage, machine to augment my Ryobi. I'm just afraid that I won't get as much snow in the next 5 years. What to do? What to do?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from comes with problems The chute rotation broke while in its first use, now we have to manually turn the chute by hand....its too bad because the machine itself throws the snow right over my deck railing, it is just as powerful as the gas versions but without the mess. Now i get to go thru the hassle of returning it to the store.
