This tool was a real disappointment. The blades are flexible and will bend easily causing too much friction and stalls the engine. They can be straightened but I don't have time for that. The engine recently became hard to start so I went through the normal maintenance procedures, (spark plug, air filter, new gas, etc.) with no improvement. I decided to replaced the carburetor and that didn't help. I think I'm throwing good money at bad. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $100 for the echo

Trimmer worked fine the first time I used them. A couple of days later I started them and after one bush they died. Home Depot replaced them and I finished my yard. Next month trimmed again same results. Home Depot again gave me store credit this time and I upgraded to The Echo. Bad product good service at my local store.

I wish there was a score below zero. Bought one not long ago, to replace a trimmer maybe 10 years old, used the new Ryobi about 6 times with headaches each time and the final three times total deterioration. Constant problems. I quit today in mid job to throw that piece of junk away, like a thorn out of my side. I'm 64 years old and this is by far the worst trimmer, and worst 2-stroke tool I've ever purchased. Hard to start. Bogs down . Stalls. Leaks. Jams up on little twigs. And I wish I had noticed how poorly made. No---not merely the wrong gas. Might as well have flushed away that money. Going out tonight or tomorrow to buy a trimmer that actually works. The Ryobi might be budget-priced, but its value is zero.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by KR Total piece of junk
I bought this hedge trimmer at my local Home Depot last Summer to replace my dull, 35 year old electric trimmer, and used it one time before winter. Even when brand new it was fairly hard to start, and would bog when applying the throttle, meaning I would have to wait 4-5 seconds for the engine to speed up. Got it out for first use this season, and it will now take no amount of throttle without bogging and stalling out. I initially thought perhaps the old gas had gone bad, despite the fact I use Stabil, but after replacing with fresh gas mixed 50:1 with 2 stroke oil, the performance remains the same. So back to my dull old (but still working) electric trimmer. No more Ryobi stuff for me.

I purchased this trimmer from Home Depot just over a year ago and used it maybe 4 times. I have had trouble starting it since the beginning. I tried yesterday and I got half way through a bush and it died and would not start. I called the service center which is about 35 miles away and they said you have to empty the gas even if it is only two weeks. And oh by the way the gas issue is not covered by the warranty and they could fix it for $100. This was a complete waste of money! Notice HD has this piece of garbage on the site as a refurb for $109. Probably since most customers have to return it after minimal use.
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS HEDGER!!!
