Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TWO48 This product is easy to use
This edger is easy to use and has the great feature where you can change the angle the string cuts, either flat or sideways. It can easily be changed by pushing down the handle with your foot. It performed well, however, I do wish it would have lasted longer with the battery life. I could not complete all of the edging around my home and then had to wait an hour for a recharge. The only other issue was one time the automatic feed of the string did not work and I had to take it apart and re-thread it so it would work.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anonymus Father's Day gift 4 years ago. No problems to date..
My family bought one of these 24v trimmers in a Home Depot store, on sale, as a gift for me for Father;s Day 4 years ago. Had a gas powered Homelite that was getting harder and harder to start and I was tired of breathing and tasting 2-cycle exhaust and my clothes smelling like it too. Several scary reviews back then mentioned problems with string feed, battery life, and screws coming loose, oh my, so I didn't expect the Ryobi to last long. Well I'm pleased to report there has not been a single problem with mine. The yard takes about 35 minutes to trim, once a week. Almost always, a single charge is enough. I decided to buy the 24v hedge trimmer also, no problems with that either, just keep the blades oiled. Both units came with a charger and one battery, and they are interchangeable. So if it does run out of charge there's always another battery ready to go. I always charge the battery when done using it, and alternate batteries every week. I don't store the trimmers with batteries in them, and only put a battery in when ready to use it..Also I try to remember to charge the batteries (any rechargeables really) maybe 1/month or so during winter when they're just sitting on the shelf. I almost never run the grass trimmer at full speed, its not necessary since it has a variable trigger, and also clean any grass from the vents around the motor when done trimming. I just trim grass not brush. Hint: when edging sidewalk, don't just run the wheel along the concrete and let the string dig a trench in the dirt like my oblivious neighbor does!. Lift a little so it just trims the grass. The trimmer is light and quieter than any trimmer any of my neighbors have. I think I've changed the string spool maybe 3 times in 4 years and its super easy. Nothing lasts forever so when it does stop working I'm definitely buying another one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WeedwhackerIV Makes our 5 acres look like a well-maintained park
When we started landscaping the area around our new home, which had been an alfalfa field, we faced a challenge in getting trees to grow, especially since we were using seedlings for the large area. I like this light weight tool that does a heavyweight job. Since our old-school gas trimmer is too heavy and unwieldy, we were pulling weeds and trying to hand mow between our trees to keep the grass trimmed with less-than-satisfactory results. Now, while my husband mows the grass, I trim around all of the little tree seedlings and rock wall perimeters with this great tool. We found that trimming around the tree seedlings allowed them to grow taller each season, and love the results. We get many compliments on how beautiful our yard is now, and we give credit to having everything trimmed and manicured. The only issue is the battery life--about 30-45 minutes--which necessitated the purchase of an additional battery. We are thinking about getting a third battery, which would help in getting everything trimmed at once, although I don't mind the enforced resting period while the two batteries re-charge.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by caredogs I'm liking how the battery lasts and lasts...
I love the quick charge, lithium battery. I don't have that big of a yard but the old NMH battery on my last edger didn't even make it around the gardens, much less the perimeter and it took forever to recharge.
I'm getting old so it is a little heavy for me but It is well balanced and easy to go from trimming to edging with the foot switch. Easy to store. the battery snaps on and off pretty easily but the battery width is a little wide for my hand span, so it's a little hard to disconnect from the charger and the edger. Overall though, it is just what I needed.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BILL so sick of gas operated, love this, just attach battery and go.
I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA, DURING THE WINTER MONTHS I DO NOT HAVE TO DO YARD WORK BUT TWICE A MONTH. MY GAS POWER 2 STROKE EQUIPMENT WOULD GUM UP FROM SITTING IDLE, AND I WOULD HAVE TO CLEAN OUT THE CARBATRATORS AND GAS TANKS EVERY OTHER WEEK JUST TO GET THEM TO WORK. I HAVE 1/2 AN ACER, A LOT OF TREES, AND A LOT OF EDGING, I HAVE ALL THE ATACMENTS, WEED WACKER, POLE SAW AND EDGER. I JUST TOOK DOWN TWO BIG TREES THAT HAD TO GO WITH THE POLE SAW, YES THE BATTERY DID DIE, BUT, WHILE IT WAS CHARGEING I GOT A CHANCE TO REST AND CLEAN UP WHAT I CUT. I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT. SORRY ABOUT THE SPELLING, STILL TRYING TO RECOUPE FROM ALL THE WORK I DID IN THE YARD THIS WEEKEND, WOULD POST PIC'S IF I COULLD.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SimplyEasy Better than most gas powered wackers/edgers
This tool does the job quite nicely. Quiet when in use and light. Easy to switch from wacker to edger in seconds. Battery life is great!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by velshnia Great machine for medium-duty work
Unbelievably easy to assemble and use. Battery operated weed whackers have historically been terrible, but not anymore.
Every gas-powered device we have in our garage takes a tremendous amount of maintenance, and a gas trimmer takes a few moments to start up. This battery-operated one has shown me that if all you have to do is throw a battery pack on and you can be trimming in 10 seconds, that I trim WAY more often, and never hesitate to pick the machine up and quickly zap a small area. That alone is worth the price of admission on this trimmer, and it's the best-rated battery operated one out there. Buy it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jgpalmerdds Great Weed Wacker; but not for edging
This is my first experience with battery operated outdoor equipment. The weed wacking aspect of things is great. It is only a single line but it does the job. However, despite it's great reviews as an edger I did not like it at all. Yes, the hub turns for edging, but it eats the line up quickly and does not do the best job. I went out and bought a Ryobi edging attachment specifically meant for this unit and it is fabulous. Yes it costs an extra $70 but it is awesome. So I use this unit for the weeds and quickly switch to the edger attachment for the edging and it is a fantastic combination for about $200.
