Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Neelam Good trimmer but no so good edger
This trimmer/edger requires a 5 minutes assembly of grass deflector with a Phillips screw driver. With a foot pedal, you can switch it from trimmer to edger and vice versa. Handle can be adjusted by a simple twist of knob. It comes with Flower Bed Guide attachment which is very convenient when trimming around the flowers. It works great on trimming tasks but edging is a sad story since this trimmer uses .065 diameter line. I have stepping pavers in the backyard and side walk on the front. Every time I edge around the pavers and side walk, the line contacts the concrete which is normal but since the line is so thin (.065), it burns out real fast. In my opinion, every edger should support at least .08 or higher line.
24 volt battery (not included) gives enough power to get the job done.
You would only want to buy this if you already have a Ryobi 24 volt battery with the charger or else you have to spend about 240% more of the base price of this unit to get the charger and the battery. Best choice would be to buy this trimmer that comes with the battery and charger, that will save you a fortune.
Over all, it’s a good trimmer but not so good edger.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JerryT Finally my wife will do the trimming!
I wanted to try this unit because the gas powered unit I have is too heavy for my wife to use. We do yard work together but the trimming always falls to me for that reason.
We tried this trimmer out today and she was more than happy to do the trimming since this unit weighs a fraction of our other one. The trimmer has plenty of power and we found the battery life was enough to trim the perimeter of our 1/2 acre yard and still have enough to get around the flower beds. I know myself well enough to know I'll forget to plug in the battery after I use the unit and then I'll be stuck the next time. I therefore plan to buy a second battery to have on hand.
I would recommend this unit for normal duty yard work.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer The power of gas without the headache
I previously owned an 18 volt trimmer/edger of a different brand. It was OK, but I found I couldn't power through tall grass or get clean edging lines for more than a few minutes. I was considering gas, but I didn't want the headache of maintaining the motor. This 24 volt trimmer/edger solved my problem. It has a lot of power, most of my jobs can be done on medium power. The only thing that I'm not used to with this product is the way you release more line. It has an automatic feed feature where the line should come out by simply depressing and releasing the trigger a few times, but I found that I would have to stop every few feet and take a few seconds to "add line". This is very time consuming if working on a large property.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by SKFITTY Lightweight, plasic toy
All plastic and cheap. I wanted a light duty trimmer but this one really is not useful for me. It cuts with only a single string, as opposed to the more common 2 string setup. Not much to like about it and this was disappointing as I look to move from gas powered to battery powered equipment for my yard. This will be going back to the store.

The trimmer works very good, handles easily and powerful with a fully charged battery. Not happy and do not understand why the battery is so expensive. This purchase does not come with a battery and or charger.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GACh easy to use after slight adjustments by user, powerful & long lasting battery
Easy to assemble, very powerful and easy to use once cutting area is found and lined up by user who are accustom to other edger's. It has a powerful motor and long lasting battery but as a trimmer the above applies however it is heavier than my past trimmer requiring more rest periods by user for corner property with sidewalks, driveway, fence, patio, house perimeter and flower gardens.
i a powerful motor

First of all, this product does not include the battery and charger. For about $50 more you can get one that includes the battery and charger, which are very expensive. The automatic feed never worked.I had to stop and feed it manually. The edger wheel kept falling off the curb and wouldn't cut in a straight line. Finally I had to recharge the battery when only half of the yard was done.Lousy product.

The edger is light weight and easily handled. It is easily adjusted and was able to cut through some vivacious weeds. However, although the price of the edger is attractive at first, the costs associated with the battery and charger - which do not come with it are high, making this particular edger more expensive than at first glance.
