Went to HD to check it out, but they did not have one there, I was skeptic on the weight, but I ordered it and it was delivered within a few days. Charged the battery and went out to do my hedges, I can't believe how smooth it was cutting my hedges, my old trimmer was never like this from day one! with the battery it weight 7lbs! the 24" blades made it so easy to cut my hedges in minutes! And I can use it with one hand, Thank you Ryobi and thank you HD :)

Ryobi trimmer is smooth and handy, i can trim my overgrown hedge fast and i like to hold it, of course it´s not a toy for children.
You can trim evereyting with it hedges, bushes, branches etc..
It all work on lion battery, so no big eletricity bills, its also quiet enough to work your own without neighbour problems. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I owned this product for just over three years. In theory it was great and I was happy when first using it. However, the trimmer would constantly stop in mid-operation and I would have to disconnect the battery and jam it back in to make the proper connection. It seemed as soon as you moved the tool that the battery would move out of contact and you'd have to repeatedly pound the battery on the back to put the contacts back in connection. The battery would also not last very long so I'd have to constantly stop working and recharge. I only used the trimmer 3-4 times a year but in the third year the motor started smoking and then froze. I contacted Ryobi but it had just passed the 3-year warranty and they refused to address. So - a battery that would not make contact although it was clicked in -- and short operation time with one charge - and a burned-out motor after 12-15 total uses at maybe 45 minutes a pop? Terrible product. Don't buy it.

Very powerful, battery life very good. I would have liked an extension handle to get at hard to reach areas.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cabbagepatch A step back from previous version, but still pretty good
LACKS the pivot point of previous pole-style trimmer (which I had to replace because the motor started smoking). This puts the battery weight closer to the cutting hand, which is somewhat awkward, but not awful.
The 24 V battery provide sufficient power for normal hedge trimming, but you might need two batteries. Unfortunately, this 24 V battery is out of step with the 18 V battery that Ryobi has standardized upon for most of its other tools (so you can swap batteries among them).
What was awful was Home Depot completely disavowing ANY responsibility for the previous trimmer's motor catching fire/smoking. I was prepared to demonstrate in-store. Home Depot told me to contact RYOBI and that they couldn't do anything to help me.

It cuts through whatever I need and is well balanced so when you are finished you don't feel tired.

Had to return to store. The trimmer arrived without the battery. Tried to get a battery shipped but the process was time consuming, frustrating and was going to take weeks for it to arrive! It had to be shipped from the manufacturer not Home Depot. You have to jump through hoops to get it to happen. So we returned it and bought a Black and Decker model instead. Home Depot customer service was awful.
