I read on-line that pump protector needs to be used or the warranty will be voided but there are no instructions regarding this in the manual that I found. What is pump protector? What brand do I use? How often do I need to put more in?

I am looking to extend the hose to 50 or 100 feet. Will this pressure washer be able to handle to extra hose length and have pressure? We have a balcony with vinyl on the second story and do not want to carry a pressure washer through the house to remove the mold and mildew.

Answer:
Hi Mom2016! This pressure washer has a standard pull start system. When the standard instructions are followed and you do not allow the pressure to build before starting then all startups will be easy! I hope this helps. Thanks for your question!

Customer Reviews

2800-PSI 2.3-GPM 179 cc Gas Pressure Washer with Idle Down is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy To Use This is a great residential pressure washer. It has some good features, and it’s a huge upgrade over electric models. Out of the box, this pressure washer is easy to assemble and the oil and funnel are included, so you can be up and running in 10 minutes or so. Initially, this unit was a little hard to start. The first time I used it, it took several attempts to get it running. However, after that, it’s fired on the first or second pull each time. The instruction manual is very thorough and Ryobi did a great job of putting instructions on the pressure washer itself, so everything is labeled and explained – no guess work. This unit has four interchangeable heads, giving you options on the width/pressure of the spray. While an adjustable head on the wand would probably be more convenient, the heads are very easy to swap out, and there is onboard storage for them, so you don’t have to worry about them getting lost. The 25-degree head worked wonderfully for power washing my deck. It easily removed dirt and mildew, and it did so in about a third of the time it used to take me with my old electric model. I also used this pressure washer to wash my SUV, and it made it surprisingly simple. The blue head allows for a nice spray of soap and still has enough pressure behind it to blast off some of the loose dirt and bugs. You’ll still have to scrub to remove them all, but it's a good start. Once you’ve scrubbed the car down, you simply switch to the white, 40-degree head and rinse off. The whole process from setting the pressure washer up to packing it away took about 15 minutes, and the hose is long enough I never had to move it. As for storage, the large wheels make transporting this pressure washer convenient, and having the bungee cord to secure the hose when not in use is a nice touch. This pressure washer is a little more noisy than I’d expected, but it’s not so bad it’s a turn-off. I feel like it’s about as loud as a newer push mower. Overall, this is a great option for the average homeowner. While it’s more of an investment than electric models, it also provides much more power and in turn, will save you A LOT of time in the long run. If you really only have one use for a pressure washer, like cleaning a single deck every year or two, it’s probably overkill. However, if you find yourself pressure washing driveways, vinyl siding, decks, cars, etc., you definitely won’t regret going with this model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent choice for home owners This unit was available only on line and I received it in about a week as promised. There was minimal assembly that was easy with clear instructions. The engine started on a few pulls and idled smoothly. In the next week I used the pressure washer for a total of about 3 hours. The engine and pump worked flawlessly and the idle down feature is really nice. The engine is about average for noise. My only complaint is the hose is made of a stiff plastic and is a nuisance to keep untangled. This pressure washer is a real value for the price and should last for many seasons. The hose can be upgraded for $30-$50.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good strong/powerfull P Washer Starts easily, nice feature that it powers/idles down while not using the pressure side. Very strong pressure, bought it to take 1" thick calcium deposits off of the tile, below the decorative rock, in my pool, it took a little while, but then the calcium had formed over several years, and I had a bunch of it that had formed. Gas tank holds enough gas for several hours of use....I think due to the fact that the engine will idle, when not under demand. Probably put 20 hours on it since the first of Sept...it is running great....although they say to check the oil.... mine has not used a drop. Happy with the product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a Winner While I've never owned a pressure washer I have to say that Ryobi seems to have nailed it with this one. The unit comes almost fully assembled. You attach the handle, hose, and sprayer, then add gas and the oil (which is included along with a paper funnel). Some of the things I really like about this pressure washer are: - Everything stores neatly on the washer making it easy to store - It is a breeze to use with clear directions right on the unit - You just pour the detergent in the tank and it dilutes to a 20:1 ratio - The padded handle and big wheels make it easy to move around - The idle down keeps you from having to turn it off to talk to someone and it saves gas I used the pressure washer to clean a section of my wood fence which is 4 years old and was never treated. I used a detergent from HD (ZEP deck and fence). I sprayed it down first with the soap nozzle then switched to the broadest spray nozzle. The photos show the before and after. Honestly I think it would have looked even better but I took it easy in fear of splintering the wood (that section took about 15 minutes). The only possible issue with this sprayer is the exposed wiring connected to the engine switch. If the wires were to snag something they could come off putting the unit out of commission. I also thought that the soap tank should be clear but honestly you know when you are out when the soap bubbles stops coming out. The day after I received this pressure washer I had a contractor at my home doing some work. He saw this washer sitting in my garage. He said that he also does pressure washing. After looking over this Ryobi washer he said that it looked like a good solid washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to assemble It's a little heavy in the box @ 74 lbs. but I managed the initial handling from car to garage (single woman). I assembled it with no problem with easy-to-follow instructions and few parts to deal with. The pull cord was not a problem as I feared and the unit moved around the deck with ease. Unlike my previous power washer which was very top heavy, this washer didn't tip or pull and the results were better than before. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pressure washer This is an amazing pressure washer. I love this because it is easy to use. I am a female and it requires little effort to start and operate. Efficient, light weight, affordable and great construction. I purchased the ez clean attachment and what I great investment. I would highly recommend this attachment because it cuts your time in half. It is great in tight areas (i.e., on the edges of flower beds) because you do not get mulch or soil on the sidewalk or yourself. I had a problem with starting this gem and could not figure out why. The pull cord would not pull. I called the customer service 800 number and I was so impressed with the trouble shooters ability to detect the problem. The problem was that there was too much pressure. She advised me to get another person to hold the wand and depress the trigger while I pulled the cord. It started immediately! I learned something new and decided to pass this information on to other consumers. So impressed and happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top-notch machine! As a recent first time home owner, this is the first pressure washer I’ve personally owned, and I am thrilled with this machine! I spent many days as a teenager using my father’s Honda pressure washer, and I have to say this Ryobi blows his Honda out of the water (pun intended). Assembly: Easy! Snap on the handle, attach the hose, pour in the included oil, and you’re ready to go. It’s really that simple. Using the pressure washer: The engine started on the 2nd ever pull of the cord. It took about 10 seconds to warm up then I was in business. It ran strong from start to finish. I love that the engine slows to an idle when not actively spraying - it saves gas and reduces unnecessary noise. The 4 included nozzles are high quality and plenty for the average homeowner. It has a reservoir for soap, but I haven’t tested it out yet…I just wanted to make sure I mentioned it’s there and seems easy to use. I usually try to find at least one thing a company could improve upon when writing a product review, but I really have nothing to complain about. Even the company itself impressed me - the shipping company damaged the first unit that was sent to me and Ryobi was eager to help. They immediately sent a replacement and included a return shipping label to send the first one back, no questions asked. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pressure washer, Ryobi tool fan for life I've had, or still have so many Ryobi tools that I am so pleased with the quality I just can't find anything better for the price. My dad was a contractor and I grew up with Dewalt, MIlwauki, Makita, so on and so on. Great tools, but carry a heavy price tag. I have never had a Ryobi quit. I build custom motorcycles, work around the house and do carpentry work on the side. Not one has quit in ten years. I do dig the green over the old blue color thought that they changed to. Now to the pressure washer. Out of the box, my 15 year old had it together in five minutes. Three pulls later, fired right up. The options that come on this washer make it beyond what any home owner or handyman could use. I have about 200 hours on it and it's like new still. Never hard to start, quick switch tips and the soap option is great. For the money, you just can't beat it. I just ordered two Ryobi generators from Home depot website, I expect the same. I've never been let down by a Ryobi product. If you're looking for a great priced washer, or any other tool, check out the Ryobi line up. They can compete with the big names any day.
