I literally gave up on this thing! It was so noisy it drove me insane - even with a radio on. We were installing about 4 separate paint lines and I chose this product because of the suction to walls so that I can do this project while my husband was at work. Our walls are not extreme textured but they are 1980's textured and some spots worked fine, the others... no. After installing 1 line I gave up waited for my husband and we went old school with a yard stick. I did drop it by accident about 5 times and it still worked.. so I guess its durable.

I'm not sure what the other reviews about this unit not sticking to the wall is about.
I've used this laser level on bare drywall and knock down textured walls with no problems. You just need to turn on the laser level and hold it on the wall until it has enough suction to stick on its own.
The laser goes pretty far but I normally only use it to make some markings on the wall before turning it off as it has to be running to maintain suction and for the laser to stay on. The noise is a little annoying but not bad for no longer than you have it running. I'll use my Strait Line model if I need something that will be on the wall for a while but it requires either making holes in the wall or adhesive strips.
More of a gadget to me than I tool I use often.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYer Great level, adheres well if used correctly
This is a lightweight, cost-effective laser level that functions very well for what it is intended to do. As other reviewers have noted, you need to turn the unit on before it will adhere. This is not obvious unless you have used units like this before or read the instructions. I have only used it on relatively smooth surfaces (drywall, wood doors) and it sticks well, up to a minute or two, certainly enough to mark out what I need.
Because it has a suction motor the unit is noisy, which I find a reasonable trade-off for not requiring holes. The laser light is weak but mostly adequate, expect to have to dim the lights when you use it for longer (24"+) distances. If the laser were stronger, I would give this unit 5 stars.
Highly recommended as a second level or if you do not want to make holes in the wall.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BostonDave Was a great value until....
This level worked flawlessly for the first 8 months I had it! Stuck to walls, held fine, light was bright (with a good alkaline battery)...then it just stopped lighting last week (8 months to the day). I believe i just got a bad unit, or may have contributed to its' demise. With a two year warranty, I'll swing by the store tomorrow and (assume) I'll just be able to swap it for another. (If not at HD, perhaps I'll have to mail it back in)...All in all, for the way it worked when it was working, I'd have to say that I WOULD recommend the unit. Again, I may have contributed to it's failing, but the store will (no doubt) assist,

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LadyO Saves my walls!
After pounding 19 (true story) holes into one wall to hang one picture and have it be level...I found this little gadget! I don't know how accurate it is for professionals, but it's been a lifesaver (wall saver!) for me! Clearly, you will see below that I am a "beginner." I will never leave that category, so I need all the help I can get. This works!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by PhotoGuy1000 Pretty much cheap junk
This device barely functions. You can make it work over short distances but that is it. Makes a lot of noise; your dog will be scared. Didn't cost much; not worth much.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Garay70 I did it myself!
I was able to hang a row of artwork straight on the wall. It was easy to use as it suctioned itself to the wall. No help needed!
