Saw runs great, cuts nice, but the base absolutely will not hold position. Placing it in the straight upright position, as soon as you start to cut the base jiggles lose and moves to an angle. It is impossible to cut a straight vertical line! Totally frustrating -- can't even make an accurate small cut out for an electrical outlet! Don't waste your money.

If you are capable of holding a saw mid-air & making a straight cut, then it's perfect. Otherwise, spend some money & get a better product. The base comes loose & after very little wear, the +/- dial will also change settings with the vibration. I typically don't buy cheap tools & can't remember why I did, but wasted money on this thing. Pure junk.

The saw was easy to use, and I've only used it once, so I don't know the true value yet, but I had to cut a tree shape out of 1/4 plywood and it did just fine. I think it will serve it's purpose fine with me.

Needed to cut some custom shelves in a hurry. This jig saw is ill equipped with a tiny (4"?) blade and blades from other gig saws didn't fit it so you can only take small narrow blades, meaning the cut isn't as easily straight as a standard wide blade. It took a painful 1-2 minutes per inch to cut through (1 1/4" thick MDF) with lots of muscle. The blade burns the wood, the motor gets very hot. It's so exhausting - I ended up using my manual saw which takes half the time and effort. The guides have rocked on the beautiful acrylic finish if my shelves, trashing them completely (I cut finished side up to avoid putting the finished surface on the work area). What good is an electric jig saw if it doesn't safe you time and effort, doesn't do an accurate job and is abusive to your substrate? Do you really need an orbital jig saw that can only cut thin laminates, a small PC pipe or 1" baseboard?

I am a young woman who decided to install my laminate flooring on my own and I was unsure of what saw I should use. After looking at pretty pricy different kinds of saws, I thought the Ryobi would be perfect. It has adjustable speeds, as well as 4 different types of material options you can set it at to cut, which was perfect for me. Only $40 and I'm already planning to use it for my other DIY projects. I love this jigsaw, as well as my Ryobi Drill! Next power tool I buy will probably be another Ryobi product. I'm happy!

Plenty of power,, my biggest issue is the base,, it wobbles and will come loose so while sawing by the end of a cut you might be on a angle and not know it,, if it had a better locking system it would be a great saw
