Customer Questions & Answers

When I crank it and pull the handle to run it it dies

Asked by: BM
High speed jet clogged. Either clean the carb (dismantle it) or buy a new carb.

do they offer a blade kit for this trimer for brush?

Asked by: homeowner
RYOBIOutdoors - I don't think the brushcutter attachment you list really fits this WHEELED trimmer. It looks like it would stick really far out and probably the blade would not be at the correct angle.

edger attachment?

Does this unit come with an edger attachment?
Asked by: mrbrad
The head of the trimmer shaft will rotate into an edger. Its not real easy to use because its hard to tell where the line is, but I am sure with practice you could do it. I have learned how to finesse it on one wheel and it trims the sidewalk area nice.

Can the trimmer head be adjusted to give a even cut.

I just received this as a gift and it cuts at an angle and diggs up the grass.
Asked by: Ray
No, it has a permanent angle that is lower on the right side. This is an edger and not a trimmer.

Customer Reviews

4-Cycle 30cc Gas Wheeled Trimmer is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 147.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still getting to know it I bought this at a yard sale. I have used it numerous times and I love it. I have back issues along with torn rotator cuff in shoulder, but I can weed eat for days with this sucker. The one issue I have with it is when the string breaks it is impossible to change it without taking it apart. You tube has a tutorial on changing this part with one off an old homelite that I am going to do. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job. Fit and finish is good. Works for me. My need was for a string trimmer with wheels. Didn't have $300 to $500 for a big high wheel string trimmer. Saw this one online at HomeDepot and the price was right. Likes- 4 cycle engine does have more torque, is quieter, whole machine is lightweight but does a heavy weight job of trimming. Don't have to lug around my curved shaft trimmer anymore. Now, I just steer and push. The adjustable angle on the trimmer head helps for edging, flat trimming or angle trimming. Quick change string pieces and hey!- how about that nice little spare string holder (holds about a dozen) that snaps onto the handle bar. I like that kind of intuitive design. Dislikes- none come to mind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent trimmer I recently had to have a Pacemaker implanted and this has caused a few physical limitations . My SIL gave me this unit she had bought 2 years ago. It had been left sitting with Ethanol gas in the tank. After replacing the broken fuel lines the unit would start but only run at an idle. 4 tanks of MIB fixed that. You have to be easy with the starter cord to make sure it engages. Since I did not have A manual I bought 0.095 line. it does ok but I will switch to the OEM 0.105. the trimmet head design is pretty decent it does not wrap up as bad as my old trimmer did. I really like the light weight . I have also discovered that the trimmer head pivots to make edgiing possible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really like the push design over a handheld trimmer this is a nice trimmer. you do need to let it warm up since it is a 4 cycle but it is easy to start if you follow the instructions. i can cut for hours with it without tiring out my shoulders and arms . only drawback is small gas tank that needs refilled frequently, but at least the trimmer can cool down some while I refill it since i run it continuously for a few hours at a time. String holds up well if you don't run it into rocks or metal. Little difficult with tall grass but does okay if you take smaller swipes so the grass doesn't wrap around the trimmer as you cut. light enough to hold by the handle and let it trim down a short bank, which the wheels make it easier to pull back up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good trimmer for small jobs. a real; back saver. after reading the reviews I was very nervous about buying the Ryobi wheeled trimmer. but I needed a machine of this type and did not want to spend 3-5 hundred dollars for a wheeled trimmer. I got it home and assembled it then when I went to put the oil in it i found out why some people may be having problems restarting their trimmers.after refueling. they do not supply enough oil in the box with the trimmer they give you a 2.6 once bottle of oil when in fact you need to buy another 2.6 once bottle and add half of the second bottle to fill the crankcase with oil. If the crankcase is not full to the proper level the engine will overheat and make restarting very difficult . I made sure the crankcase was full and had no issues it started on the first pull every time I refueled. Overall the trimmer did a great job I have had no issues with the trimmer line I did my whole yard with the two lines that were installed from the factory I would have given a 5 star rating if they supplied the correct amount of oil with the machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i love this trimmer! i have a 4 cycle ryobi trimmer ( i do love it) but i have a problem with the weight. my husband got me this one i started useing it this morning i am on my 4th tank of gas and still going strong it is so easy to use it gets under everything and cut very well now this is a trimmer on wheel not a brush cutter but i can not find anything wrong with this i'm 66 and have a bad back but with this i'm doing wonderful don't know why they don't carry this in the stores it is just great for someone like me and just another point, the head is far away from my body so that if i do run into a snake i am out of the way great great would recommend this to anyone looking for a great trimmer

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Possibly the worst trimmer made. Less than 10 hours of operation, just over one season old. Failed timing belt. As a mechanic this is the worst built engine design I have ever seen in my life. The timing belt is not designed to be changed. It not only requires you disassemble the unit and most of the engine, if you want to do it yourself you better be well tooled for small engines and have a press as you will need it to change the timing belt. I would have given this zero stars as a rating, but that is not allowed. So save your money and get a good unit instead. In hindsight this unit is only worth about 40 dollars new.
