Bought this trimmer a year ago (and I have a 40V Chainsaw, String Trimmer and Lawn Mower) and found it works well. It's about the weight of a gas-powered trimmer (so it's a little heavy) but it cuts hedges well and the best part is there's no cord!! The trimmer itself is hefty and operates for about and hour on a single charge. Plenty of power to cut a normal amount of hedges. I like the "sweep" attachment that assists with debris removal while your are trimming (particularly for flat tops on hedges).

I am very happy with the Ryobi 40 volt because of its ease of use... no gas, no string pulling, no electrical chords, just slide the battery in and get to work. The hedge trimmer has great power, cuts better than my old Hedge Hog electric chorded hedge trimmer, and only used 1 out of 4 bars after trimming multiple hedges for about an hour or more. I highly recommend this trimmer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Daniel This product has nice features.
I decided to buy this product since I just got the cordless lawn mower that came with a pr of 40V batteries. I love them since both are Eco friendly and does the job just as good if not better than my old tools. Even though its got the power I gave it 3 stars for Ease of use bcoz it gets a bit too heavy after about 15 minutes of use. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this product

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mixie Surprisingly powerful
Works amazingly well against tough edges, 1 hour later and the battery was still 3 out 4. It is a little heavier than my corded trimmer, but it saves on the effort of pulling a heavy extension cord.
I got the extended warranty because I've fried the motor of every corded trimmer I ever bought, so we'll see how long this one lasts.

Cuts well, good features and uses same 40 volt battery as string trimmer. Unit is a little heavy, if your doing a big job it can get tiring.
