My battery is a year old and when I charge it now, it gives me the defective code of lights blinking on the charger. What is the process for returning it under warranty?
Asked by: Jenks
You apparently need the receipt, the product, and have had the fore site to register your warranty when new. I am in the same predicament. I am going to try my luck at the local Home Depot, but based on prior experience, I doubt I'll be successful.

What is the difference between the OP4026 and OP4026A battery and can I buy the 40v hedge trimmer without the battery and charger?

The OP4026 & OP4026A are interchangable. Here is the link to purchase the 40V Ryobi hedge trimmer without battery. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-24-in-40-Volt-Lithium-ion-Cordless-Hedge-Trimmer-Battery-and-Charger-Not-Included-RY40601A/204252924

How long should the battery last while using the mower?

Asked by: Dione
Hmmm.... That's almost like asking how high is "UP"... There are way too many variables....It definitely depends on just how hard the mower is working...Tall grass (working Hard)...20 minutes..Or, if you have the cutting height selector really low, say 1-2-or 3 position the battery will be depleted much quicker.... It takes me 30 minutes to mow my lawn and I have learned not to let the grass get too high.. around 4 inches maximum... With the mower height setting in #5 position, in the 30 minutes of mowing my lawn, I have never run my battery completely down. I hope this helps somewhat.

The first battery and charger failed to charge right out of the box. Returned the battery while still in warranty and it worked twice before the lights started flashing red/green. Went back to Home Depot and spent $100 on a battery. ..wouldn't charge. Bought a charger at home depot online ($55) but both the new and old battery failed to charge. Returned both to Home Depot today and will look for another brand this spring. This product is CR@P!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad battery I bought the 40 volt leaf blower in June and the battery wouldn't charge after minimal use and only 3 1/2 months. Tried exchanging battery at home depot but customer service told me that the store warranty is only valid for 3 months from date of purchase. And was also informed that ryobi requires purchase receipt and barcode from original packaging. Needless to say I did'nt hold onto empty packaging so i had to purchase a new battery for $99

I have used Ryobi 40v batteries for years and have been extremely pleased with their performance, both in power and length of operation. However, this particular battery was a replacement and would not take a charge. In fact, two of last three 40v batteries would not take a charge. Returned battery to local Home Depot for full refund with no hassle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Crapshoot if you get one that works Bought 2, 1 was dead out of box. Other charged and seems to be useful, but history has shown me these seem to only last about 6 months (10 or so uses). Way too expensive per use. Ridiculous that Ryobi sells expensive hardware to go with this battery, then, if you don't want to eat the 100's of bucks you've invested, you have to deal with this battery mess. This may put Ryobi on my "do not buy" list if they don't get a good battery out there soon.... HD did receive the bad one back without a problem. Just sucks this stuff gets to market and wastes peoples time and money.

This battery is the same kind that was on my Leaf blower when I purchased it. It does not last any time at all and it takes forever to charge (hours) and sometimes is very hard to connect to the charger & blower. I can put it on the charger & the green light comes on saying it's charging and then it just goes out & quits. I have to take it off the charger and put it back on and again make sure the green light stays on. Very frustrating. They need to replace it for me since it cost so much!!

I had to replace them 3 times in one summer and now the newest battery is showing a fault on it. I put them on a timer so they don't sit to long but they continue to fail. Talk to customer service and they tell you , you must be doing something wrong. I have had one battery that has stayed with me the others are all duds. buyer beware , the tools are fine and work good , the batteries are horrible.

I sank $700 into a weed trimmer, brush cutter, cultivator, pole saw, and spare regular strength battery. The charger showed defective battery at first, then I unplugged and replugged a couple of times and the charger charged the battery that had come with the weed-eater. But the spare battery was showing defective and would not charge. So I took it back to the store and got another spare battery. Same deal - it's showing defective. So now I'm going to take the whole weed-eater assembly back to the store and exchange it so I can try a new charger as well as a new battery. I've been a HUGE fan of the 18v power tools for a couple of years but I am bitterly disappointed with this 40 volt system. My property is remotely rural and 10 miles away from the nearest Home Depot (150 miles away from my home). Every time I go out there, I can't use any of the equipment I got. So far, it's been useless.

Battery has been recharged 3-5 times and now the charger says it is defective and will not charge it. Have been using the 18-volt batteries for years and still have some over ten years old that work. I know how to use and treat batteries. Check other online sources. Reviews for this battery are terrible. Spend $150 for a tool and the $99 battery will not hold up.
