Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tomcat One Ryobi trimmer just wasn't enough!
The Ryobi trimmer is so terrific at home, I had to purchase another for my studio in the Boynton Beach Art District! The ease of use is amazing and the lithium battery charges quickly and lasts a long time.
A helpful Home Depot staff member explained how a Ryobi trimmer would be a solution. There is no engine to start so anyone can use it. But, it was far more powerful than I would have imagined. This high quality machine even edges. I am so pleased.
Thank you Home Depot!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AngryCustomer Lasted 2 months, neither Home Depot or Ryobi would replace.
I bought one of these because I figured it would be a better buy and the reviews were great. I also picked the cultivator attachment because my wife has a medium sized vegetable garden. I quickly learned that using this product for anything other than light duty work will result in a broken power head. Which makes me wonder why they make a cultivator attachment for it in the first place. When using some of their other attachments, vibrations will eventually crack the handle in half. Ryobi claims that this is not a flaw in their product and will not replace it. Home Depot will not replace it either. If you like to collect broken tools, this is for you

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bob It's not too bad
It's a little over priced for what you get. Just go with the "non-attachment" version.
I RARELY use any of the other attachments I purchased.
One MAJOR issue is with the battery. It's not that they are defective, it's more of a design issue with the trimmer itself.
When you are working on a hot day sweat can get down in to the battery contacts and fry the battery.
This will effectively kill the battery. I now just wrap the open area with a bandanna so no sweat can get in there.
It's not a bad trimmer, it gets the job done, just not really worth what you pay for it.
It is worth noting that I have had this trimmer for 2 seasons now and it's still going pretty strong.
I don't see this thing quitting on me within the next season.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JLBINPL Item is so so but the BATTERY is worthless
Purchased the item at home depot. within a month the battery stopped charging(red light blinking). Took the battery back and they replaced it. 2 months later the battery died again. Went back to home depot this time they gave me a RYOBI # to call. since they just gave me a battery the first time and not replaced everything as a unit they wouldn't warranty the battery. Far to much time has been wasted on this product. Its very heavy and not easy to use so its getting tossed as junk. I asked the person at RYOBI if there is a defect with the batteries and she said no yet they were out of stock for a replacement. At the store as I was leaving another guy had the same issue with his battery.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bobbosrq Nice alternative to gas trimmer but inadequate battery life
The Good: It sure beats struggling with a gas trimmer. And it is powerful enough to replace a gas trimmer for a standard yard
The Bad: The first one I got didn't recharge the battery and the spool wouldn't release new line so I returned it and got a new one. The 2nd one works great, but the battery doesn't last as long as they say. After about 20 - 25 minutes of use it stops and needs recharging. I bought a 2nd battery and just use both to complete my lawn.
Overall I am still happy I got it rather than my old gas trimmer which was temperamental and frequently wouldn't start and needed constant adjustments and babying.

I have had this two seasons. Love. electric. But,the respooling is terrible.I just take it apart. Thats with the factory string. Long grass,it just builds up til it stops. Then you'll need to pull and cut it out, works its way into the bearing. Head design is terrible. May have a Stihl in the spring. Also own a Ryobi 12" compound mitre and electric pressure washer. Will review later. Have toget the hemp out of the bearing now.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by organdj Great power, no problems after 2 years
I've had this system (string trimmer, edger, cultivator) for 2 years, and it works exactly as when I purchased it. I also have a blower with a 2nd battery. I charge the batteries until full, then remove them from the charger and unplug it. I've been doing this for 2 years and they're still going strong. I don't notice any degradation of battery life yet. Either I'm lucky, or this approach extends the battery life. Either way, I'm very satisfied with this product.
The power is great. I've stopped using my corded tools (blower and edger) since this system is very capable (and the blower without a cord is really useful). I'm also impressed with the cultivator tool---very surprised the power head has enough power to run that very heavy tool. It comes with a metal handle, which is essential since it is so heavy. I fold the plastic handle down when using the cultivator so I don't accidentally try to use it and break it.

Seemed great at first, but only after 2 charges the battery became "defective " as per the charger indicating light. Charger and battery stored inside house at 75F. Also, removed from charger once fully charged. I'll stick with the gas trimmers.
