Ryobi takes Cordless to the next level with the 40-Volt Lithium-ion String Trimmer. This string trimmer is designed to deliver cordless convenience without sacrificing power. With a 40-Volt battery pack, this string trimmer delivers longer runtime, and fade-free power. And for you gas-lovers out there, this string trimmer actually delivers longer run time than a gas trimmer. Ryobi also loads this string trimmer with convenient features like the 11-13 in. adjustable string width for ultimate cut control. The 90 degree pivoting head swings out for easy walk-behind edging, and the charger has your battery fully re-charged in under two hours. Plus, this string trimmer accepts the Connation Attachment System-online in 2013. This system allows you to transform your string trimmer into a pole pruner, hedge trimmer, or an edger simply by connecting the right attachment. All this performance and convenience backed by a 5 year limited warranty, makes this the perfect time to go cordless.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 418 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ryobi string trimmer This is the best trimmer I have ever used. It works well as an edger. It is light weight. The thing I like most is the easy start. The battery pack is a bit tricky to get off but once you get the hang of it it is fine. I would recommend this over a gas trimmer. I have .25 acres and the charge lasts into the next time I need to trim. It does have a lot of plastic on it which concerns me but the warranty is good. I have the .080 string trimmer and is a 40 volt. Great product. June 30, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Trimmer Used it once. No problems so far June 1, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by burn out trimmer Brought this uint back in june 2012 didnt really use it till 2013 and the motor burn out in mid july still on its original spool of string! Took it to a Home Depot recommended repair shop, that doesnt handle Ryobi gardening tools and they sent me to another shop, which is pretty far. The first thing they did was charge me $25.00 for diagnostics told them it was a burn motor but still had to pay it. The unit was sitting at their shop unit Nov before I got it back, guess I could get it ready for snow now, during this time I've been calling them and they kept telling me that its waiting for parts. This is my 2nd Ryobi trimmer first one had the same problem but it was a lower voltage unit, figure a 40V would be much better, Guess not! I would definitely not recomend this to anyone or any of the Ryobi warranties! November 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great product I have too many toys that have gas engines. That is why I went electric. I have 7 acres and that means a lot of edges. My first task was to clear our a 150 foot ditch out front. I have had this trimmer for a month now and I have used it on, what I consider, heavy weeds and grass. The battery does last 30 - 90 minutes depending on usage. It charges within 1.5 - 2 hours. The string is only 9 ft long so it can run out fast. You may want a backup spool even if you rewind your own. I now own two Ryobi products (the other a pressure washer) and I am very happy with the quality of engineering in these two products. I am impressed with the 3 year warranty and you can buy an extra year through Home Depot for $15. The plastic feels a little flimsy, but it has held up so far. The biggest issue is battery replacement costs. $129. But the batteries should last if you take care of them. July 23, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by terrible trimmer head The trimmer head is the most critical component of an edger, and the trimmer head here is terrible. You can not go more than a few feet before the line is heavily worn, and you have to flip the edger over and manually advance the line. Often the line just breaks. It's a very annoying and time consuming process. The trimmer head is not replaceable. Usually you can put a third party head of your choice on an edger. It's not possible here because there is no bolt to the spindle. This would otherwise be an awesome tool. The battery life is great, the motor is powerful, the edger is well balanced and feels right. But if an edger can not edge, it's a poor product. If you buy this you will be disappointed. February 6, 2014
