This is my third in 5 yrs. The problem isn't the battery, it's the charger! The charging regulator is not very good so if you leave it connected, the battery will overcharge, swell up, and die! I use an inexpensive wall mounted timer now and only charge for as long as needed - about 2hrs for a 3/4 discharge in my case. Lost the last battery because I forgot it was on the charger for a week! Looked like it was ready to explode!
Try it and good luck.

I don't know which battery they want me to review so I'll group them. The first one received in this round failed in the first month. I returned it rather than warranty it so I could restart the clock. These batteries cost about ten times what I've spent on gas per year but their pollution contribution happens somewhere else. Having to protect the battery from ambient temperature all summer is a pain ( keep below 80 degrees). These batteries haven't given good service in the past, I'm hoping for better now that I know to keep them in the house. I'll let the lawn die off this summer so I don't have to expose the mower to high temperatures. I don't think HD should have sold these mowers on the Southwest if they can't stand the heat.

Battery pack doesn't last. Good for one year and throw it away. I thought I was being environmentally responsible buy this RIOBI mower certainly not at $130 a pop for a new battery. I took the entire mower to the dump where it belongs and went to Canadian Tire and bought a gas mower for about the same price of the battery replacement.
I have no patience for expensive things that don't work and this mower cost me three times what a new gas mower would have when I bought it and it would be still running. I wont be spending money on any more RIOBI products.

If your Ryobi 48V mower battery is dead, this pack is the only choice. I've tried to just replace the two 24V batteries but cannot find a retail source.
Good to see that the 4 green lights are now bright LED's. At least they have put some thought into it when building each version.
My previous pack lasted 5 summers, hopefully this pack will run another 5. That's roughly $27 a summer. Costs much more than gas and the cutting is less powerful, but the ease of starting up and no gas fumes make up for it.

I was trying to get away from gasoline mowers so I bought this RYOBI battery lawn mower. Initially I was happy not having to deal with gasoline and exhaust. But now that I have gone through four (4) batteries at $130 each I was getting frustrated at the continued expense. One problem is that the recharger does not always sense that the battery is fully charged and over heats it basically ruining the battery. I have gone to a corded KOBALT. It is somewhat of a hassle dealing with the cords but it cuts much better and is much lighter making mowing much less taxing.

This battery is very heavy and expensive. And it does not seem to accept or sence a charge appropriately. You will be lucky if it lasts two years. After buying four, not too sure why I was so persistent? Probably because the mower was so expensive initially? But I have given up and bought a new mower.
