Can I drill in concrete with this drill?

I live in apartment building and all the walls are concrete. Will this drill holes in concrete?
Asked by: Tig2Luv
You cannot use a regular drill for concrete. You need a special "hammer" drill. A concrete bit will dull right away if you try using a normal drill. Most hammer drills can be switched over for normal drilling as well.

Can this be used as a screw driver also? What bits will be needed for it

Asked by: Fiz
Yes. You'll probably use a #2 Phillips head bit most often and you can buy multi-packs of those.

Can it drill a 1 1/2" hole with a spade bit?

Asked by: guy
It depends what you're drilling through: Soft wood, I'd bet on "Yes". Hard oak, probably "No".

There doesn't seem to be a brake on the spindle----if there is one, I can't find it. So, you have to get two hands on the chuck, one to hold it in place while the other tightens. Frankly, this doesn't work very well. There is actually a video online showing a HD employee using some sort of collar to hold the chuck while tightening. That wouldn't do it for me. I purchased a Jacobs 3/8 24 thread keyed chuck, and it seems to work flawlessly.

Received this as a gift & have used it a few times as an alternative to my cordless drill. This one s nice. It's lightweight; the keyless chuck is easy to use, and it's powerful enough to common household use. The variable speed feature is not so easy to master, but works OK once you "get the hang of it".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great drill We picked this drill up in store when ours finally bit the bullet mid project. It was the cheapest electric drill on the shelf. Its lightweight, and has a keyless chuck which is nice. Its been a great little drill and has done everything we needed. Easy to handle and use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and price tool Got this to use with my meguiars DA polisher drill attachment to wax my car. It's perfect, light weight and didn't break the bank. The trigger is nice to easily adjust the rpms. I'm sure I will find plenty of other uses around the house for this.

The Ryobi I just bought replaces an ancient Black and Decker, I like the size and features of this drill. If it lasts as long as the old one, I will consider it a very good and wise investment.
