Are there Ryobi replacement blades? I can't find them in store or online.

Asked by: Needblade
You will need to go to RyobiTools.com, and find the exact model of your Biscuit Jointer. Once you do, click on the tab that says "parts". This will open the tab and then click on Ryobi Power Tools Parts Store, or you can just call: 1-877-545-4099 and they will do all the look up. Besides a list of each piece and part on all their products, there are also diagrams which helps when trying to figure out their name for various pieces and parts. This is essential to know if you intend to call them as they will look up the info by the term you use. On this model, the "Blade is item #19 and the part number is 671289002 ($25.14). However their web site shows the blade "not in stock". I have also attached one of the diagrams. Hope this helps. Cheers!

How does this unit compare to the more expensive models?

Asked by: Milwaukeeuser
I have owned other brands, but this design is more comfortable, due to its handle design. There is less stress on the forearm while plunging the blade into the stock you're working with. This is especially beneficial when making a large number of cuts on a project.

As I read the reviews I see that some say that the cut will leave too much slop and they see this as a bad thing. However, This is part of the physics of biscuit joining. Use water based glue and the biscuits are meant to swell up and create a tight joint. Just make sure that your work is flat and level, and clamped properly. It is possible that a few people may have received a defective unit but I think that many of the reports of a sloppy cut is just that some folks don't understand that the biscuit is meant to swell up from using water based glue. Hope this helps.. I am a retired shipwright.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent DIY Unit - Recommended Reading A couple of other reviews totally surprised my regarding the statement there is no adjustment on the depth of cut for the biscuits. They obviously failed to read the directions, or even look at the unit for that matter. When looking at the bottom back, you can easily see a knob with the same numbers as the various biscuits, so that should be your first clue. One reviewer stated he prefer the manufacturer configure it beforehand, but that is an uneducated statement. Almost every power tool made has some adjustments on them. How could any manufacturer who is selling a $99 biscuit jointer , that can make cuts at more than 25 positions, for three different size biscuits and then some, in any thickness wood you want the use, not require a fine tuning knob? For a DIY'er, this is an excellent value tool you should own. The height and angle adjustment knobs move one another if not locked down, but other than that, ALWAYS test on scrap pieces of wood that are the EXACT same thickness as the ones you are planning to join. Any professional already owns a "Domino" or if they don't, they already know this is probably not the tool for them as they need one that can handle daily abuse while not effecting the settings. Cheers!

I'd just purchased a few of the Ryobi One+ tools, and was very pleased with those, so decided to buy this. I wasn't disappointed. Being a rookie using a biscuit joiner, I had to make several test cuts on a couple pieces of scrap prior to starting the actual operation. It takes a bit of time getting used to it, but it's a good tool to have. Learning how to use a router was easier, but the project is complete, and I'm ready for the next time I need to make some hidden cuts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did the job I bought this to join two pieces of butcher block counter tops from IKEA together for my daughters kitchen. I tested using it on some scrap butcher block after cutting to size. This definitely helped get my understanding of using this tool down. I didn't find the instructions at first as they were hidden in a side pocket in the soft case included in the product. I also clamped and screwed the two pieces together, with glue, for the strongest connection. Picture does not show the biscuits, but they are between the screws.
