I've owned this for a year now... I tell everyone about it. I'm short on time but don't bother reading any reviews under 5 stars because honestly this tool is GREAT! So glad I got the CORDED model.

We bought this to trim the limbs of a tree before we used a chain saw to take the base of the tree down. It performed way beyond our expectations. Great little saw. Just make sure to oil the chain. Highly recommend!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Soundman50000 Best product for the price EVER! Cut hardwood OAK limbs, like butter!
I must say I was impressed with the ability of this inexpensive pole saw. When unpacking the unit just snaps together and you must push the little pin lock things in but it snaps together in like 30 seconds, put some bar and chain oil in ( not included ) and you are in business!
I needed to get some rater large hardwood oak tree limbs away from my roof. The professionals wanted a arm and a leg so I searched for options. I old manual saw on a stick thing was NOT an option as some of my branches were 4" to 5", I had my doubts this little guy would work but it cut through these big branches like butter! The 6 amp motor never slowed down and had plenty of power.
After finishing my tree cut today I was left feeling like I had stumbled on a super deal as I truly did not expect this saw to handle this big job like it did. I am so impressed I will consider Ryobi 1st, when it comes to my future home improvement needs as I got more than I paid for! .
The chain did pop off as I was finishing ( always happens when I use a chain saw) but only one small bolt to take the bar off and put the chain back on, far easer than ANY chain saw I have ever used in the past. With that in mind, this Pole saw worked better and had more power than any electric chain saws I have used in the past. The unit does NOT include bar and chain oil so do not forget yours when purchasing this fine product. Pics included of the large hardwood limbs this little guy chopped right through today...Very impressed, A true time and money saver and very easy to use!

Comes packaged very well and is easy to assemble, just 2 insert and screw lock fasteners. HAs all the power you could want in this type of pruning saw. Makes quick work of tough dead palm fronds. Easy to clean.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by cpg2 Initially worked but chain came off
My neighbor purchased this Ryobi for light duty and even lent it out to other neighbors no issue, I used it for some limbs so I was familiar with 8" chain performance.
I went ahead and purchase for my own, I filled the oil reservoir to the top and started the unit.
Pros: Did the job but with a lot of work on users part.
Cons: After 30 minutes the oil reservoir emptied, I did not think I needed to keep a watchful eye, I asked my neighbors who used my neighbor's for an extended time beyond 30 minutes, they did not have to refil oil reservoir.
Chain came off as a result of self lubricating unit. Some other reviewers have commented to have a larger oil reservoir to compensate for usage.
The pole would not adjust or telescope, don't know if that was an option, all I know is I could not tighten the coupling sections and it just jiggled and was top heavy another major issue other reviewers have commented, When you are up a 32 ft ladder, it gets a little scary when you can't retract it.
Extension cord could not be tucked inside handle, Ryobi hole is not big enough, need to wrap around handle.
On balance, I don't think this is worth $99. I will purchase a pro level gas unit with a telescope pole.
