I must say I was impressed with the ability of this inexpensive pole saw. When unpacking the unit just snaps together and you must push the little pin lock things in but it snaps together in like 30 seconds, put some bar and chain oil in ( not included ) and you are in business!
I needed to get some rater large hardwood oak tree limbs away from my roof. The professionals wanted a arm and a leg so I searched for options. I old manual saw on a stick thing was NOT an option as some of my branches were 4" to 5", I had my doubts this little guy would work but it cut through these big branches like butter! The 6 amp motor never slowed down and had plenty of power.
After finishing my tree cut today I was left feeling like I had stumbled on a super deal as I truly did not expect this saw to handle this big job like it did. I am so impressed I will consider Ryobi 1st, when it comes to my future home improvement needs as I got more than I paid for! .
The chain did pop off as I was finishing ( always happens when I use a chain saw) but only one small bolt to take the bar off and put the chain back on, far easer than ANY chain saw I have ever used in the past. With that in mind, this Pole saw worked better and had more power than any electric chain saws I have used in the past. The unit does NOT include bar and chain oil so do not forget yours when purchasing this fine product. Pics included of the large hardwood limbs this little guy chopped right through today...Very impressed, A true time and money saver and very easy to use!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BeachMike10 Lite duty unit
Purchased 6-26-16 to do some branch trimming (only) on two palm trees in front yard. Pretty much every thing has been covered in the reviews. No complaints other than the unit is top heavy when using the full extension. Cut thru limbs like butter but I did not cut any heavy wood branches. I used it on about 25 branches. Did not have to adjust chain at all for my 1.5 hours of work. Did refill oil 3 times. Wear an old shirt because it spits a little oil. I'm pleased with it. Solid construction, extensions tightened down tight for me.I would recommend this unit for lite duty work.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by okcop516 Nice trimmer, job done
I bought this after an ice storm for clean up of debris. It cuts really well and is easy to operate. The only issues I have is the chain guard is very poor quality and the length of reach is too short.

I am so glad for this purchase. This chainsaw is very capable and beats a ladder or rope chair to get to out of reach limbs.

so we have this huge rubber tree we have to trim every couple years in a major way. I have a quality Fiskars manual pruner but wish I had spent the bucks on one of these LONG AGO.
I first bought a 9amp unit from a competitor and it really stunk because it was really a mini electric chainsaw mounted on a pole. it flexed too much, was too heavy and the main reason was the bulky design was horrible and you couldn't trim branches close to the tree.
THIS unit solved all those issues. much slimmer profile allowed clean cuts close to tree. it was much easier to handle and better balanced and despite being 3amps less , power was never even remotely an issue. this buzzed thru every limb I attacked and even bigger sections than I expected. also the oval pole design flexed alot less than the other.
now I've become a (slight) tool snob since purchasing Dewalt power tools over Ryobi and really love the difference..... but for some jobs and applications, Ryobi fits perfectly and does the job BETTER than expected and THIS is exactly one of those occasions.
I say buy this tool if your'e considering it and your arms and back will love you at the end of the day if you have to do any kind of regular tree trimming. I know I sound like a cheesy infomercial but I really did get a kick out of using this tool. last note I only had to tighten the chain once and don't think it even threw the chain whereas the other one lost the chain almost immediately after I started testing it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CathyWolfie Great chain saw on a pole
This is a great little chain saw on a pole and easy to use on high branches and trimming. During the first use, the running saw hit the dirt and completely dulled the chain, so we had to go buy a new chain. Be very careful and do not let the chain hit the ground!

It trims tree very fast. Little bit heavy. But after cutting tree first time chain gets loose now. Try to find out how to tighten chain. It should not loose in first cut...that is only disappointment.
