Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the money Just ordered second one. One is to be used for grinding, the other for wire brushing and polishing. Look at the Ryobi website and see how many of the replacement parts are no longer available, another reason to buy a second one. Good weight, seems sturdy, only time will tell how durable. Mounted on stand from Harbor Freight that costs $30. Arbor is 1/2", all of the brushes and polishing wheels I have found so far require a 5/8" arbor and I have not found a bushing except in one wire wheel package, so will be ordering another one of those, too. Would have gotten 5 stars had all replacement parts been available as well as an option to purchase the bushing. May 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Best deal I found in a long time! I went into the Home Depot to pick up some furnace filters, as I looked for the aisle I passed a Clearance section in front of the store and there sat a Ryobi Grinder, I picked it up and went to the cashier and ask if that price was correct? She said it was and I bought it immediately and ask her if there were anymore in the back because I would buy several more at that price and give them to my sons and brother, but unfortunately I got the last one. It is a very good grinder and well made, I would not hesitate to recommend this to every homeowner that shops at Home Depot. I was so shocked at the discounted price that I took the grinder to my car and went happily home forgetting about my furnace filters that I went after. February 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great little grinder I bought this because my other grinder had given up the ghost, the previous one was rated at 3/4 hp, this ryobi is easily ore powerful. I use it at home, and not too frequent, but after getting it home I played with it a bit, seems very well balanced, strong, and easily mounted as the holes are not directly under the shaft outputs like others I have owned. While it is true it would not be a good addition to a professional shop, it was not made for that, there you would want something bigger. For the home mechanic/ builder it is a great buy. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good little grinder Got this mounted on my bench for a few days and put it through its paces. Sharpened up some knives, a mower blade, an axe and deburred a cut piece of metal all without issue. Even cleaned up a rusty wood chisel nicely. You can put fair pressure on the wheel without the motor bogging down. The metal housing and shrouds are adequately built and seem like they'll hold up. The clear acrylic spark shields are a bit flimsy and I expect them to get scratched up quite easily. It is small enough that it doesn't take up much room on the bench if you mount it permanently. If you're expecting a professional model, this is not it; but that should be clear from the price. Even at the regular price, this solid little grinder is a good buy, I'd say. On sale, it's hard to beat. December 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic value for this woodworker! I have wanted a bench grinder for a while now, and during the Black Friday sale (later that afternoon, when all of the chaos had died down) I saw this little gem for super cheap... couldn't resist. Man am I glad I couldn't resist! I sharpened my chisels with this in no time. Assembly is easy, and build quality seems to be great for light duty work. Superb for sharpening! For the price, you can't go wrong. I guess I was fortunate with mine... nothing was missing or broken in the box. Good job, Ryobi! December 11, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Burned out after one use For the price, this is hands down the best grinder for the average home user. However, mine burned out after about 15 minutes of use with a wire wheel. It still worked when I turned it off last night, but this morning it won't turn anymore. It just hums, and emits a strange odor from the capacitor under the floor plate. I may have just gotten a dud, so I'll give it a second chance. April 13, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Low quality, good price, but misleading. I don't usually write reviews, but I thought I'd give a fair warning. I don't know how well this device works, because when I opened up the box both of the grinder shrouds were bent and the grinder wheel rubbed up against them. The build seemed to be of low-quality. Also, the description is misleading, because it does not come with the cooling tray or the lights. Home Depot should probably look into these issues. I did not use the grinder, so I can't review its operational values. December 3, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for my purposes... Bought this grinder for sharpening my garden tools. It works very well on my hoe, lawnmower blades and machetes. June 10, 2014
