Hi!

Ryobi says that the battery(ies) are not removable.

What does one do with the drill when it no longer charges?

I'm not trying to ask a stupid question, I truly don't know (other than throw it away ugh) what to do with it after the batteries won't charge any longer.

Thank you!!

Answer:
I have not experienced that problem with this drill, but I did with a smaller Ryobi drill. Unfortunately, you have no choice but to throw it away since you cannot replace the battery. It is dead!. I've only had my 8-Volt Lithium-ion Drill for about one year. But my other Ryobi drill lasts over 10 years, so I'm hoping this one will as well. Sorry for the bad news!

I'm pretty sure this screwgun has it but wanted to make sure before I bought it, and that feature isn't listed though the image seems to show it. One of the best features in modern screwguns, but not all have it.

With the drill held in normal operating position, the direction of rotation selector should be positioned to the left of the switch trigger for forward motion. The direction is reversed when the selector is to the right of the switch trigger.

Setting the direction of rotation selector in the OFF (center lock) position helps reduce the possibility of accidental starting when not in use. Hope this helps!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Electric I was told to get this brand and that I would love it and I do. It's great. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best compact drill this drill is lightweight and compact and great for someone who needs to use it for small jobs around the house or out in the field. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best house hold tool I have bought and used a large amount of the ryobi battery based tools. I had bought a similar model of this drill for wife so that she could change around the license plates in her loaner fleet at a local car dealer. She loved it. I saw this type about a month later and bought just to see what it was like. I came to loving it. I have mixed paint, drilled, driven screws, the list could just keep going. It is well worth the money spent for what it is. I would highly recommend this. May 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by You can't fly with this item I don't even know how this drill works. It was recommended to me by a Home Depot employee. Unfortunately it has a non removable lithium battery which means you cannot travel on an airline with it. Airline policy- no lithium batteries in checked luggage. TSA policy- no drills in hand luggage. So I had to surrender my brand new drill to the Hag at the TSA desk. May 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Little giant This thing don't have the power of the big drills of course, but oh boy I've put this thing to the test. I 've done jobs rated for heavy duty ones and this little giant has done it without any problems. May 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi 8volt drill The trigger is a little sticky. Have press it right for it to work April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Value for the Money This drill is lightweight and super easy to use. The charge lasts for at least 4 hours and the drill has all the strength to do most of the jobs I do regularly. I highly recommend this drill! April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi 8-volt easy to use! The Ryobi drill enabled my wife I to replace the hardware on seventeen doors in two evenings after work. It kept its charge and only had to be charged a couple of times. The torque was very manageable for both of our wrist and kept us from stripping the screwheads. I would recommend the Ryobi 8-volt Lithium-ion Drill kit. March 29, 2016
