Product Overview

Simplify your yard clean-up with the Ryobi Electric Lopper. This convenient electric tool is ideal for pruning and trimming of branches and limbs up to 4 in. Dia. Designed with an enclosed saw blade and large cut opening, this lopper can grab up a bundle of limbs or a single larger branch and slice through with no kick-back, in one efficient motion. The upper and lower casing keep the blade protected while in use, so you can even use it on the ground without damaging or dulling the blade. The 8 in. blade is powered by a 5 Amp electric motor, so the unit starts instantly and runs consistently. With an automatic oiling system and oil-level window, you’ll get smooth operation and time-saving performance. Backed by a 3-year warranty, the Ryobi Electric Lopper is smart addition to your yard tools collection.

How do you sharpen the blades?

Asked by: Joe
Hi Joe! Stop the motor and disconnect from power supply. Tighten the chain tension enough that the chain does not wobble. Do all of your filing at the midpoint of the bar. Wear gloves for protection. Use a 5/32 in. diameter round file and holder. Keep the file level with the top plate of the tooth. Do not let the file dip or rock. Using light but firm pressure, stroke towards the front corner of the tooth. Lift file away from the steel on each return stroke. Put a few firm strokes on every tooth. File all left hand cutters in one direction. Then move to the other side and file the right hand cutters in the opposite direction. Occasionally remove filings from the file with a wire brush. Thanks for your question!

8 in. 5 Amp Electric Lopper is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic deal when I bought it I bought this electric lopper two months ago from my local Home Depot store for only $29, which is a fantastic deal. It is now being sold at its normal $99 price, so it's about the same as its competitors like the Worx JawSaw, which I also own. I would still choose it over the Worx for its larger 8" bar and fully automatic chain oiler. It is also easier to get into tight places, since the entire jaw opens and closes, whereas it is a fixed one foot wide on the Worx. The only advatage to the Worx is that chain tensioning is a lot easier and safer. Both tools are about the same weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this tool! Did my back yard with ease cutting overgrown unwanted bushes. When I went to my front yard it wouldn't start--there was oil, power, etc. I called Ryobi and it had shorted out which was a big disappointment. I returned to Home Depot for a full refund but I wanted my Ryobi lopper. Autumn is the time of year for this but they didn't have any. Hopefully they'll have Ryobi loppers next year. Used it a couple times last winter, used it once this winter, and the jaws won't close. Bought the warranty, but lost the receipt in a move. HomeDepot won't do anything, the warranty company won't do anything, and Ryobi would only sent a parts diagram. Don't waste your money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Tool / Low Price I bought this almost on impulse when I saw it. The looper cuts very well as long as you don't force it. The only negative is adding bar oil is tricky without a funnel. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for taking down overgrown shrubbery, but... Some reviews were from folks who didn't read the manual. Tsk, Tsk. 1) Assemble the handle. 2) ADD Bar & Chain OIL, not included!!!! (but needed by ANY chain saw) 3) Check the chain tension. 4) Run for a couple of minutes, cutting some branches. 5) Reset the chain tension (new chains stretch) 6) Run for 10-15 minutes 7) Check chain tension and oil level. Adjust as needed. 8) Repeat steps 6 & 7 every 15 minutes of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great help... I purchased this even though I have a 14 inch chain saw. I have arthritis in my hands and lopping tree branches causes problems. This makes the process much easier, especially since it will handle larger tree branches where I normally would need my other chain saw. What makes this great is there is no chance of kick back which could happen when branches are laying on the ground. I highly recommend this product.
